  1. Started the day with my 200, used a tank, had a 201 sent up, used a tank, and had my 200 sent up to finish the rest of the day. Dont like the way it picks up, and (although I couldnt..) i felt like i could stall it too easily. I wont be buying one in a hurry.
  2. I had that thought...couple of experimental trees...... Some big trees up there Dave.
  3. I think you may be a bit out there Dave....the Larch i was felling back in the summer was 70' tall, and wasnt even 22" DBH!I was reckoning closer to 100' TBH.
  4. I have had an enquiry into some 12metre long, 12" square douglas fir beams, to be used for the walls of a cabin, swedish style. The job will involve me felling the sticks, someone else extracting them and delivering them 100yds up the road to my customer where my mill will be set up. My customer has arranged the purchase of the sticks, provided the estate has them big enough. The only bit of the whole project about which I am unsure is this: in order for me to get 12" square of heartwood, using Douglas fir, how big a stick would i need in order that at 45' high i can get 17" of heartwood? I am assuming that with 17" of heartwood the stick would be about 20-22" diameter........so what DBH is that if the stick is 22" at 45' high? Is there a formula for this, or published tables? I dont have the blue book, maybe it says in there?
  5. Have you not got a rotating electrics guy who can rebuild it for you? If not then deutz will be able to supply. Rollo Power Solutions, marine, power generation
  6. he has been driving that for a while now......hence the hole in the shed door......
  7. I have the black and yellow weaver, and a treemotion. The weaver is an amazing harness, with an incredible amount of support, and is tough as nails. I found the petzl to be incredibly UNcomfortable, and felt too flimsy by far. I got about 10' into the tree and gave up on the petzl and put my weaver back on when i tried one. The weaver is a man's harness, the petzl is for ballet dancers:blushing:
  8. Anybody on here into R/C models, esp cars? My boy wants one for his birthday, but I am just getting confused by what is out there. Looking for something that goes fast and goes anywhere. a mate of mine used to have a nitro thing that was indestructible, but looking online just confuses me, and I will have to buy online as there dont seem to be suppliers in cornwall!

I dont know. I looked on the AA site but couldnt find that info (I am sure it is there, just my ineptitude). Is that something that exists?

I was in Tesco car park this evening, and noticed a local gardener's van sporting an Arb Association sticker in the windscreen. Now as i understand it there are no AAACs in Cornwall. What could be the case here? Does it just mean that this person is a memeber albeit not AAAC? Or is someone doing something naughty?
  14. Totally. I thought it was a commonly recognised thinking that if you are trying to sell something then a pic is pretty much a must nowadays. E.g. on ebay it is widely recognised that ads with no pics wont get bids.
  15. I have pulled some right dirty stunts in my time.......none of them were customers, and most were gone by the morning though......
  16. Cheers Steve- I thought it was either a glitch or something I wasnt doing (like logging in properly etc.) I do like this feature too, and agree about ads being better for a pic. I looked at the Allbut log grab today, but TBH without a pic I am not that interested.
  17. Is it just me, or does anybody else find Arbtrader mighty irritating compared to the old classifieds? Sorry steve, its just that every single ad I have looked at has had scant info and no photo. Whats that all about?
  18. No it wouldnt. Here (for the second time recently lol) is an email i received regarding stretching my 110 to a 130. Thank you for your email of 13 October regarding changes to your vehicle. The first thing you would need to do would be to contact the vehicle manufacturer to confirm if any changes are feasible. The garage would have to be a reputable one and as mentioned your insurance company would need to know. DVLA would need to know for any change on the registration document. I hope this helps. Because a 130 is just a stretched 110 anyway (well they were until fairly recently) you shouldnt have any problem.
  19. Oak and beech both fine. Chestnut Products - First for Finishes
  20. When i have had woodburners (I have electric heating at the mo for the first time in my life...) anything that would burn went in it. Anything.
  21. Weaver. The black and yellow one. Big and a bit cumbersome until you get into the tree. Possibly the best for spiking on a pole. (and i usualy climb on my treemotion)
  22. Yeah that husky bag of your is a disgrace Dave, but the worst thing is how fast it started to fall to bits!!
  23. That takes me back Matt. I spent many an afternoon up at Badbury rings.......it used to be totally open you know......Stunning part of the country.
  24. As above- seasoned is best, You can use green, but i think you would be disappointed when it starts moving and cracking due to drying out so fast....
