  1. You HAVE to read grapes of wrath.....!!
  2. I might try Thomas Pynchon's Vineland again....it defeated me about 2/3 through last time.....anybody else read any Pynchon?
  3. I Cant be without a book. Just finished The Death Instinct by Jed Rubenfeld.
  4. I am not sure of how the law is now, even though i have trawled google for it. It (once upon a time) went something like horses, pedestrians, cylists then everything else. It has probably changed now for some incomprehensibly complex set of rules that no-one including the plice understand:001_rolleyes:
  5. But cyclists have right of way over cars etc dont they?
  6. If you leave the correct amount of holding timber at the back then your saw shouldnt get trapped though.
  7. That is incredible!!!
  8. He certainly looks pretty big in that pic. RIP big man!
  9. RIP. all too sudden. Sorry to be ignorant, which of the three in the pic was David? (i'm guessing from the tat's that you are on the left there?)
  10. A really scary one filled by bearded odballs and rivet counters....scares the hell outta me:laugh1:
  11. IME the chainsaw carvers love it. I dare say other carvers would like it too in that case.
  12. Surely the turning circle isnt worse than a defenders though is it?????
  13. A30, between Carland Cross and Chiverton roundabout, 9 miles, I have been going the other direction and drivers from the farm i mentioned in my later post on this thread wont pull in on the whole length. I have seen ambulances caught behind them with blue lights on twice now. I never work over a road without all the correct procedures inplace BTW before you start casting aspersions.
  14. Exactly.
  15. Does that kill sycamores then?
  16. There is a good reason for this......

    students eh!!

    OMFG that is minging!!!!
  18. There are other ways, but that was the least offensive way i could find. Down here in west cornwall all of us who drive plant or agricultural vehicles on the road do our utmost NOT to antagonise car drivers, but there is one particular farm which grow spuds and bulbs who share the OP's views, and TBH they are despised and hated by other farmers for good reason....blocking up the A30 to the tune of 9 mile tailbacks. Its a main ambulance route too.
  19. I was not unimpressed by TCD's l200 'forwork'. Not my bag at all- not enough room, too car like and not enough towing capacity etc etc, but a fairly solid comfortable hybrid of a car and a proper off road vehicle. However all these chrome covered hairdressers things with names like Barbarian, warrior, Pathfinder (BTW at Duchy college the slowest students' group are called the pathfinders:lol:) are, IMO, a joke.
  20. And it is this sort of stupid, immature, pathetic potato attitude that winds non tractor drivers up to top pitch. I bet you are in the brigade who think that you are 'cool' doing 'traffic calming'. Wait until you hold up an ambulance in whihc someone dies because you were in a bad mood. Its people like you who give us all a bad name:thumbdown::thumbdown:
  21. My last 2 days' customer has one....he cant with to get rid of it. Off the road in the garage more than on, drinks fuel, and rattles he reckons.
  22. 26???????? Keep up!!!!. To rectify those figures, get some 285/75/16 BFG muds, a roofrack and get the weight up to 2 1/2 ton empty, and you'll soon be down to around 20mpg or less:001_rolleyes:
  23. If sheep get on their backs they generally cant get on their feet again....actually I think that sheep are born with zero desire to live.
  24. Everything tows alot more than rated..... Thats not the point.
  25. There is a kebab and curry stand at the bottom..... Actually i doubt that there are many at all......they are mountain goats, and goats in general are about as sure-footed as animals can get too.
