  1. Theres been loads of pics of the largs promenade on the web news Stevie. HUGE waves!!
  2. I cant wait....... Although i hate the expression ' I told you so...'
  3. Yeah but hardly any apple owners keep their machines long enough for them to go wrong because they are sooo gullible they rush out to give Apple even more of their hard earned money because they believe the bull that is poured out by apple about how the latest must have has been released........its like the i-pad blag...they already have the next one ready befoer the last one is sold, so with all the hype and the fan boys' going on and on they take three times the money off you......and woe betide anyone owning an apple who says ANYTHING bad about their product on the apple forums- you just get banned, expanding the myth that these machines dont go wrong.........given that the hardware is IDENTICAL to that of A Pc, the idea that they are ANY more reliable is just laughable. And i have even started on the restrictive nature of their software (such as i-tunes (which BTW is losing popularity fast due to the issues that it is causing to peoples machines)) or the contemptible and hypocritical way the whole company started in the first place and has continued ever since.......
  4. All depends what part of cornwall you live in:001_smile:
  5. Precisely what i am concerned about.......I might see if RCO has any input....
  6. Well i had 20 metres of jap larch delivered this evening on 6 wheel and drag, and the driver has given me the number of a haulier who has an artic with BIG crae on. Ill try and get him down from north devon.
  7. 880 has more grunt, slightly more cc, and more torque.
  8. HOw is the i phone ground breaking? They didnt invent touch screen. Neither was the i-pad the first of its type. It is however the only oneof its type that is not compatible with websites that use flash (about 25% of the worlds websites and growing innumber fast)due to apple not being able to buy Adobe and rebrand it as apple. They also, regardless of wht the likes of Stephen Fry would tell you, are not the inventor of the 'windows' idea- drop down menus etc etc. Not sure how crap the PCs were that you are used to using, but my PC is silent, and is running very fast, 4 gig of ram and over clocked to 3.8 gig, and thats an old PC- about 7 years old now. Graphic designers were the original market for macs, which back then were more than just a dressed up PC with an overinflated price tag because of a pretty box.
  9. When will people learn that all this mac business is total crap. It is just another asus motherboard (like in 99.9% of every computer sold) in a fancy package, with ripped off open source software which is then (regardless of who ACtUALLY did the work) accredited to a company that has such a small market share that the virus writers cant be arsed....yet....Your time will come apple fans, there are viruses out there laready for macs..... And as for unreliability of PCs, with a very small amount of know how and switching on of AUTOMATIC maintenance programs your PC will be as troublefree as a MAC. Eset costs about £25 a year and is bombproof. MACS are a rip off, as is every other apple product, from a company that portrays itself as a lovely caring family blah blah blah but is worse than Microsoft in that respect. rant over........
  10. TBH i couldnt watch it to the end. It was too much like being in a cornish pub. Unbelievable.
  11. She's wasted isnt she....drunk or wasted, and utterly utterly revolting.
  12. Yada yada yada.........
  13. Thanks Rover- great link. The teaching power of Arbtalk strikes again!
  14. Yeah i have always used Beech. Oak is ok though, esp for fish I think.
  15. Ill second gibbon on south america. Not worked out there, but spent time in Argentina and Brazil........amazing places.
  16. Thick coat and cold are not condusive to PU drying rob. Warm/ hot environment is good IME, and as you say, a thick coat of that stuff will take along time to dry off. Its pretty gloopy isnt it?
  17. HOw do you mean 'easy' Mike? Its not a steep slope, but this isnt final thinnings either, and we have been told we cant damage too many other trees on the way down, although i feel that the top being on may slow the descent a tad.... I did reply to loads of the suggestions from earlier, but somehow didnt post the reply. Thanks for all the help so far. I like the homemade bogey idea, rides are excellent and big, would an artic log trailer unit be able to handle these logs, or would i need a teleporter (or two) to load? I will have a 6 tonne franchguard on the back of the valmet to skid the timber out. We did moot the idea of suspending the one end on the butt plate / winch and the other on a teleporter.....
  18. I am sure the M&S advert i have just seen on the telly is advertising food smoked in douglas fir:confused1: I was under the impression (from investigating for my own food smoker) that softwood was a definite no-no for smoking food:confused1:
  19. Just pay up and move on. You will NOT beat this. Sorry but the powers that be in the world of parking tickets live for it...I speak from multiple experience.
  20. BTW to you more experienced fallers, would i be better off topping out or just felling straight, as far as shaking the timber is concerned? My [limited] forestry experience has not been for timber logs, so this hasnt been an issue) There will be issues with the amount of colateral damage we can cause to surrounding woodland. (the trees will have to be selectively felled, this isnt part of a clear fell I dont think)
  21. Thats what i have advised (its not for me...I am felling, extracting to rideside, and milling.) I will help throughout (hence the threads) but I am not that interested in bodging it up a public highway, or the frustrations of what could and inevitably will go wrong- I dont want any unexpected grit related surprises caused by dropping logs on the road etc etc either. Its enough of a paint getting a stone 3/4 way through a 5metre long log, let alone a 12 one!
  22. I think i am lucky, I never get them. BTW I use Eset Nod32 home security. IMO nothing else is worth bothering with.
  23. Ew- nasty Rob. What a nightmare. Beautiful timber all the same.
