  1. I dont make a habit of spending that on port, but as a treat and all that.......That shop sells some of them for double that.....
  2. I couldnt agree more Mark. My dealings with Santander were certainly less than easy and smooth.
  3. Was it treemagineers at the AA show a couple of years back who were demonstrating th forces on your spine when you fall....they were just tapping the climbing line (which had a 100 kilo weight attached) with the silky and it was failing? Scary stuff.
  4. YO are absolutely correct DRS. PTO winches have a shaft from the transfer box straight into the back of the winch. Dont get me wrong, the hydraulic version of the h14w is awesome, and I would doubt that any of us in our work would notice any loss of power. Electric winches are, IMO after having had a few, a total and utter waste of money.....fine for pre-tensioning for a fell etc, but useless for the likes of skidding timber, or any use which put a big pull on them for prolonged periods as the solenoids and eventually the motors wear out.
  5. generally get a decent port in.....I am blessed with being close to Constantine Stores, one of the countries best importers. I have treated myself to this one this year. Also is sloe gin and this year Bullace Gin. Not made it before so i am looking forward to it.
  6. If you arent going to do anything else with hydraulics, then get a PTO winch. You have been refering to these all along, but in fact you have been talking about PTO driven hydraulic winches. I have a PTO h14w on my landy. It is the best winch you can put on a landy, or in fact pretty much any vehicle up to 7.5 tonne IMO. It runs off the transfer box, and is unstoppable, and will never overheat- even a hyd winch will give up in the end- plus you have loads and loads of horsepower. I paid £700 second hand for mine, about 10 years ago, and other than a new oil seal and an oil change, havent touched it since.
  7. Of course its 'its a wonderful life'. There can be no debate. The ultimate feelgood movie, and the ultimate christmas one too.
  8. Well i started watching it, but after 4 minutes gave up. The crap music was doing my head in and the editor couldnt work out whether to speed up the footage or do it in slow-mo........
  9. Bloomin 'eck! How do i go about this if i am going to do it- what to send, how to make sure it doesnt decay/ get beaten to a pulp, where to etc? If you dont mind:blushing:
  10. So, what........was that a list of where this fungi has been spotted?? Surely not?
  11. What a result!! Whereabouts are you- I take it you are south west if you are passing Mole Valley? I used to use them all the time, but they changed the shop about so much and made it supermarket-like, and the prices flew up too, but we always used to get power tool bargains/ offers there before!
  12. :lol:Yep:blushing: So is the B.fumosa not common? Tremetes gibbosa was the bracket I was wondering about.
  13. Okay well I am (embarrasingly lol) confused now......I recognised Xylaria polymorpha, dead mans fingers, and I identified auricularia judea, jews ear, too. However I am lost as to the others.....
  14. What might the bracket have been?
  15. I am sure the fung hunters on here have seen it all before, but i was amazed to see so many fung on a single bit of wood.
  16. I cut this sycamore down a few years ago, and this lump was just dragged up the lane and lost in the base of the hedge, as it kept ruining chains. I was cutting another tree for the same customer on sunday, and noticed this lump of wood again...bristling with various fungi!! Apologies for the terrible camera on my blackberry phone.
  17. Yeah way to cheap. You are taking 3 men and a load of kit and even then its not gonna be an easy job. I would be looking at about 1300 ish.
  18. Well a big thanks to Robert S. who has sorted me out with some that he has. Nice one Robert.
  19. WRC is a very valuable milling timber BTW.
  20. Does it have 2 plastic inserts, one each side?
  21. YOu arent going to have to pay them a penny. Just put loads of petrol through, that is all they wil be doing FFS!!
