  1. It's not so much the preservative that's the problem, more the way the timber is prepared for treatment. UC4 posts are all redwood and kiln dried to 28% before treatment.
  2. If you want to use wooden posts then specify UC4 or creosoted posts, 15 year guaranteed life. If you use merchant quality the the treatment doesn't really mean that much.
  3. Where's your tanking now ?
  4. My mate Paddy rang me & said he's just got a bargain coat from House of Fraser. Original price was £200 & he got it for £25. He said it is supposed to be slightly imperfect, but he's had a good look all over it & the only thing he can find is that one of the sleeves is slightly shorter than the other two !
  5. Clarke's all the way, got mine from there, great service.
  6. I've ran both of mine with 20" bars and no problems.
  7. Don't know about the Yeti but I got a Skoda Greenline 1.6TD as a company car a couple of weeks ago and I have only good things to say about it. Excellent fuel economy, responsive and comfy to drive.
  8. Bought a second hand (only used once) Lasermark from ebay a couple of years ago. Complete kit tripod, staff, dumpy level (not self leveling) £180. Great piece of kit, used it loads of times, easy to use.
  9. we had about 2 inches yesterday but thankfully its raining now, hate the bloody stuf
  10. Here's mine, bought it back in September and I love it. I can get 3.5 cube of logs in it (slightly overloaded ) or fill with chip. Re-mapped it recently and it pulls like a train.
  11. Now that's what you call good taste I think !!
  12. I've used loads of bluetooth devices over the years and the 2 best which I've used are both Parrot. The Parrot PMK5800 is a device which is portable, plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and works through the radio (cost about £20) and the second is the ParrotCK3100 which I have fitted in my Landrover (cost £70) fitted myself.
  13. Get the training and go for it. I'm 46 and having to reduce the tree work I do due to arthritis. I love working with trees so I've taken a full time job outside the industry (to pay the bills) but I'll will still do the odd tree job and firewood.
  14. I'll be there on the McVeigh Parker stand, my first trade show as an exhibitor.
  15. I just use a second rope which is 8m long, works well for me.
  16. I looked into supplying pellets a few years ago from Balcas and I couldn't have made money on it.
  17. Yes paul it will depend on how effective I am as a manager but I'm looking forward to the challenge. It's a good company to have behind you.
  18. Yep good lads in the Kent depot, I was down there in October during a tour of the branches.
  19. The quality is definitely available, but as you say you get what you pay for. What branch do you buy from garth ?
  20. Just out of curiosity does anyone buy there materials from McVeigh Parker ? Only ask as I'm about to open a new branch in Scotland for them.
  21. Only joking, I'll leave the milling to the professionals.
  22. Did a couple of sets of lights last year, easy money, but crappy lights are a pain.
