  1. Forgot to say that one of the best views I know is on the road to Tighnabruaich looking down the Kyles of Bute.
  2. Tighnabruaich is a beautiful part of the country, but it's remote if you are used to having facilities nearbuy. I know a great saw/mower mechanic who moved there about a year ago so you'll have no probs with repairs if you need them. Anyway I hope the move goes well and you enjoy your new home.
  3. OK, IC you are 100% correct it was my wrong choice of words. I stand corrected.
  4. Yep, need to request permission from the council.
  5. I think its an air spade that you want. I've done a bit of it myself over the last few years using a soil pick.
  6. PM me your details and I'll keep you in mind.
  7. Thanks guys, I've got an old stihl 044 and just going to use it. I'll take the oil pump out and leave it on the winch all the time.
  8. Got myself a chainsaw winch, question is what to do with the oiler ? I don't want oil pi**ing out while using it so can I run the saw without chain oil in it. Will there be long term damage to the oiler ?
  9. HTC Desire S, had it for a year and really like it. No probs so far.
  10. 46 yesterday and still going for it although it does hurt a bit.
  11. Nae luck. If it's not bolted down then things tend to 'walk'. I'll certainly let you know if I see or hear of a saw for sale. On a side note have you worked with a guy who has the initials AC, just curious as I've heard him talking about a guy with your name.
  12. Guy I used to work with, used 2 single handed ascenders with the handles taped together and the connecting karabiner attached to both ascenders, worked well for him.
  13. Just had the blades sharpened on a Farmi that I work with. Fantastic job (you could shave with then). Pm me if you want the details.
  14. Nuts, nuts, nuts !!! We sometimes think health & safety has gone too far but at least we have it. These poor guys don't have anything.
  15. I've seen these in the flesh recently. Light construction (Chinese import) would probably be OK on a small stump but I didn't see it working.
  16. Mark Knopfler, Lynyrd Skynyrd and a bit of Radio 2 thrown in for good measure but this can vary widely.
  17. Birch suitable for firewood processing available in the Scottish Lothian and Borders. Cut to 3 & 4meter lengths. £30/tonne roadside. Haulage can be arranged. PM me and I'll pass your details on.
  18. David. Don't worry about where he stays, he travels all over the country carving.
