  1. Big J is the man to speak to, top bloke.
  2. I have Aquafell Xpert boots and I think they are great. I bought a pair at the APF and this will be my fourth pair. The last pair have lasted about 2 years, have had a fair bashing in that time and are still 100% waterproof.

  7. Thanks for all your replies. The general consensus is a mixture of pollard and coppice which, is what I had planned but it's good to get your views as well.
  8. Mr Ming - dam top is about 200m long Charlieh - thanks for the info, not sure if it directly relates to us in Scotland but I'm sure we'll have something similar. It would suggest that the dam should be clear of trees although, my client wants to retain the trees in some format.
  9. One of my customers has a large estate and, within the grounds is a lake. On the dam of the lake is a line of trees consisting of Alder, Ash and Willow. The landowner has had an engineers report carried out for insurance purposes on the dam and the report determined that the trees may be blown over in high winds thus, breaching the dam. Question is, would you reduce or perhaps pollard or coppice ?
  10. Managed to catch my finger in the log splitter last December (home made single handed operation). Severed it more than half way through, broken bone and 5 stitches. Could have been avoided by paying attention and making it 2 handed operation. Pure carelessness Hope you have a quick recovery with no lasting damage.
  11. Get your anchor point as high in the tree as possible, this will reduce the angle of your rope to a minimum when branch walking. Keep the angle of your body in relation to the branch you are walking on as low as possible and see how far out you can get. My second line/strop is an 8 metre length of climbing rope which I can use on a branch which is above me to use as a second anchor or use on the branch I'm on to keep me out as far as I can get. Hope this makes sense.
  12. I could do it, or give Chris Simpson a try.
  13. Try The Barony collage at Dumfries, they definitely do it.
  14. Do the work you originally quoted for and if they want more they pay for it. simples
  15. Just used Sugru on my 357 with exactly the same problem as Mark Lewis above, seems to have sorted it for now
  16. Just out of curiosity what's Scots of this type worth now as I've some of the same ?
  17. As Toxicity2182 says, Chris Simpson Informed Tree Services (google it, you'll get his contact details from his web site) or Matt Cooper at SAC .
  18. Looks like great stuff Tom, let us know how it works on the sump repair.
  19. I've had the same over the last few days, thought I'd picked it up somewhere but AVG was dealing with it.
  20. Jonathan, that would pull the mill no problem, but turning circle may be a problem Here's another to check out. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlYjae7uSoQ]Russian Kamaz trucks in action at IDEX - YouTube[/ame]
  21. HGV class1, driven hgvs all over UK and Europe, was a contract shearer 30 years ago (still managed to shear 100 the other day) but I'll turn my hand to most things if needed.
  22. Haven't used them myself but I worked with a couple of guys who said they were good.
