As for the spanners and sleves Tim im well prepared and even have an extra large box of plasers specialy for knuckles !!! oh and a pot of creme to clear up the effects of any spanner rash that should ocour lmao

  9. so you find they dull as quickly as standard blades ?
  10. cheers Rupe , i will be ordering a set then !!
  11. cheers Steve , im looking to fit the linkage this weekend , to be honest we are only going to use it to carry the chipper when we have a full load of chip on to start with , im looking for front mount Ducker of similar that will take about 12" but that is a bit of a way off at the moment .
  12. Has anyone tries saturn machine Knives for chipper blades ? they called me today and asked what chippers i run and if they could give me a quote for blades , now usually i pay £98 plus vat per blade (4 blades) from Jas P Willson , saturn quoted £208 pluss vat for all four blades, is this to good to be true ???
  13. hi guys , im looking for some advice , i have picked up my front linkage for my mog but can not seem to find any info on fitting it onto the front of my mog , any advice and pics would be really appreciated . i think the biggest confusion is how many of the mounting brackets for the din plate need to be removed thanks in advance guys
  14. Thats really not good news , hope they were insured , i will keep an eye out , do you know if it was a well organised job or oppertunest ? only asking because we have had a fair few people driving round having a good look at what we have here .
  15. Keep your wig on mate , the tree was sold as fire wood because we had tried to GIVE the tree away to carvers and they al either wanted it delivering for free as well or simply coule not be arsed to do anything with my offer . as a last ditch idea i got tommer in to plank the last 20 foot . i really could not care less that i only got £150 from it in fire wood - at least the people buying the firewood made a use for it that clearly the wood turners felt was beneath them .
  16. Give Trust insurance a call , i have been with them for 5 years and can not fault them , i have had quotes from several other insurers who advertise on here and they can not come close to trust , it is not possible to give you a rough price for PL cover as its based on turnover , trypes of tree work , qualifications , number of staff , etc etc .
  17. nice pics, looks like a lovely bit of kit and if a had the use for one right now then thats what i would be getting
  18. well working it out roughly , we used to change our blades every 24-30 hours on the 6 inch timberwolf , this was not when they were blunt but due to the fact that chipping elm with dull blades is a pain in the arse , i guestimate that if you are not chipping large pieces of timber to often on every thing you chip is clean with no soil or stones on the but end etc then the blades would have not required changing really much before 35 hours . if you put that into context with the time it has taken the bearing to fail then i would be looking more closely at who fitted them . there are several factors that can contribute to bearing failure and possibly this has been over looked and just assumed that its same old TW bearing failure . Take it to timberwolf for them to look at mate
  19. were the blades sharp and newly fitted when you had the bearings changed ? because if they were then it is possibe to calculate roughly how much this would have effected the new bearings , i know of a firm who had a similar problem and it was caused by only fitting new bearings and not addressing the actual problem . Personally i would be getting in contact with the tec's at timberolf who are a realy good bunch of guys and very helpfull , maybe see if you can drop the chipper into them so that they can actually have a look and address what has gone wrong .
  20. nearly as big as the holly you did today Bri
  21. this may be useles but Atkinson vos now have a mobile mechanic service , may be easyer and cheeper than trying to get it moved
  22. And at that price and the way things are going i dont think cornwall council could afford a coppy , be sure that a few of their guys could do with reading about the standards in tree work
  23. depends on what sort of tree work ? i have plenty on but alot of it is utility work
  24. do you have one or two pipes to each ram ?
  25. without seeing the job i could not coment on this situation . the problem with the industry is that there are some that think tey should be able to charge a fortune for what they do decause its "dangerous" and they have to try and over charge in able to afford their current lifestyle, then there is the other end of the scale where un insured/ qualified people are charging a pittiful amount , along side this you have the people starting out that thing quoting cheeply will get them loads of work and get there nme out there . This leaves a select few in the middle that find it hard to compete BUT its this few that if they stick at it they will be sucessful in the long run . its not easy to see when times are hard like they are now but now is the time to put all the hard work in and see your efforts pay off as the others are going bust
