  7. i would go for a bigger saw and forget the 12 inch timber - we have found bigger timber much easyer to work . maybe an ms441 ?
  8. thye look like an ok little saw if your not climbing every day .
  9. i think you are refering to a Concentric cable , these are fairly safe to work around as they are classed as twin screened cable - please see attachment. http://www.otds.co.uk/electrical-equipment/cables/concentric-cable.jpg as much as this cable is pretty safe to work arround i would still contact your local distribuion office and request a shut down. it may also be possible that the linesmen that do the shud town may also drop the line so that its out of your way completly thus making the job even easyer . Hope this is of use to you BUT remember if your not sure get it switched off !!
  10. yeah it is a lovely place , i really should go and do my medium size trees but down this way i dont think a sole teaches it in cornwall lmao

  15. yeah pretty much simple busines ideas , often its all to easy to get all caught up in the tree side of running a company and forget/ take your finger off of the business side of things . Now i will stop giving away my secrets before tommer catches on the little blighter
  16. hi and welcome to arb talk , all i can say on the hard wood front is good luck ! there aint too much hard wood timber kicking about at the moment, are you looking for next winters firewood ??
  17. We have a guy down here that has been doing the same thing , the only difference is that he is a shocking tree surgeon , i tend to inform the customers that it they would like me to cary out the works and are happy with my quote then i will happily do the planning side of the job for no fee, this is all detailed in my written quotation and does clearly state that if they wish to accept my quotation they will also be agreeing that should i carry out the aplication and they decide to then use another tree surgeon they will be liable for the planning fees as laid out in my T's and C's, if they are happy with this then all they need to do is to sign both coppies of the quotation and post one coppy back to me before i will comence with the aplication .
  18. I guess its possibly been caught betwene two bits of timber at some point thus causing a week spot maybe ? my only question is surely when carrying out visual inspections you would have seen signs of rust that the point the wire leaves the textile outer sheeth ? i may be wron but in your first set of pics it does appear that there is some rust on the wire core .
  19. it looks like those days are set to end !!
  20. i have regularly gone to plymouth , exeter , taunton and wiltshire to work , yes the jobs were all for clients of mine down here but im sure the local tree companies were not thinking that when i turned up .
  21. interesting !! i was wondering if that because of the Phytophthora being present in a site with the possibility of the trees on site bening infected then the LA may remove any TPO's or Cons Area , just a thought tho . Thanks for your advice , i will treat the job just the same as any other (but with alot more dissinfecting )
