  1. lol, to be honest it only takes 5 mins , ideally i would have a front mounted chipper but you can only spend a penny once lol and there are plent other things i can/need to be spending money on before i get a front mount chipper , i have looked at getting reversing box but the only people that seem to have any are VOS
  2. it makes it a little more plesent on the road and eases the weight on the rear axle a little , also we find it rides a bit better round these little cornish roads lmao
  3. Yes indeed paul is a very very wise man when it comes to this industry for sure . I think the changes aead for AAAC's are all positive tho , but that is only my oppinion from the outside
  4. hiya Huck , yeah we managed to get the linkage sorted and it fitted perfectly, i may well sell if on again and look for a sliding linkage tho as i would rather reduce the overhang on the front axle , but in all honesty as this is my first mog im still pretty green to it all so any advice i get is welcomed .
  5. to be honest steve we currently use the front linkage to trasport the chipper back to the yard when the box is full of chip , before we can use the chipper on the front i will need to be getting a reversing box or finding a ducker or schliesing front mount for sale , as for the front springs i was not too sure if they needed to be changed or not , some say no and some have said yes , the chipper does only weigh 632kg
  6. I thought I should take the opportunity to thank Paul Smith from Arb Association and Dominic Scanlon from Aspect treeconsultancy And everyone within the Cornwall Arb Association branch for putting on an invaluable training day yesterday. The day was aimed at informing members from all areas of the tree care industry of the changes within BS3998 (2010), I for one found the day to be incredibly informative and in fact I went away with a new outlook to the role that a play within the Tree care industry. We also got the chance to hear from Paul Smith from the AA with regards to the all new small business Arb Approved Contractor Scheme and again i feel that this is something that many small firm can now look at becoming confidently involved in. I would urge anyone to take full advantage going along to the same training day should there be one happening as it worth every penny and I can assure you that the new BS3998 (2010) is totally different to the older version and in fact totally different to the draft publication that some of you may have. Once again I feel I must thank everyone involved in making yesterday a success:thumbup:
  7. well here is my little mog out at work (taken a month or so ago ) . i have spent the day fitting a roof to the chip box as im sick of chip going everywhere when its almost full , will post a couple more pics tomorrow or in the week with the chipper on the front linkage
  8. to put it bluntly chaps , Fountains have come on here to let anyone know thats looking for a job that they are taking on , every big firm has its problems and to be honest so do some small firms and that includes me , im sure tht there will be guys that are in need for work to pay the bills that will be keen to apply so why not keep it simply to a thread ofering possible employment rather than a less positive outlook to fountains .But this is only me personal opinion
  9. Yes , very very good bits of kit , having said that i have seen them used on a couple sites and unless you have a decent opperator at the controles things can get messy pretty sharpish !!!
  10. toomer you showed me the pics of a 130 of which the chassis had snapped , yes granted it was a landy with a mewp fitted but at no point has anyone marked this problem solely to landies with mewps on the back . and secondly your picture shows a lump of timber on a trailer and NOT on the vehicle its self . Oh and secondly the landrover shown in the picture is M Reg when i would expect that build cost and quality was not being compramised . as expected my oppinions would probably tough a nerve or two !! Never mind lmao
  11. Thanks Ian , i must admit i will be a little less haisty to chop and change again !! and thanks for the praise , im trying to make 250 my goal by september
  12. sory to derail the thread a little but i have been using maximuscle promax diet for the last 4 months and seem to have found my energy and strength slowly dropping and the need for junk food getting bigger ! about 4 weeks ago a changed back to using Maximuscle Cyclone and have found that i have no want for junk foor and i have more nergy again , to top it all off my squatt has improved a bit and im now able to squat heavyer again and even managed 1 set of 4 squats @220kg.
  13. i did hear of a problem recentl with iffy crank seals on the ms880 , a local guy had a similar problem , when he tok the saw back to the dealer they blamed it on using Bio oial other than Sthil's own bio oial as it was to thin !!! however strangley they agreed to fix the saw FOC !!!! how strange !! its just a shame the husky 3120 in not alot of cop !!!
  14. i tend to climb with one end of my rope and a 10m strop , i may well get a large throwline bag to put on mu harnes to keep the spare line from my strop in while im climbing , but if im honest i could not be arsed with a retractable strop
  15. that said they are using hilux !!
  16. who are you insuring with ? maybe give Trust a call , they have been insuring my vehicles for the last 4 years and i still can not find anyone that can compete with the fleet policy that trust offer !!!
  17. thats why they are using al jap 4x4;s in the dimond mines in Australia and Ammerica !!! they tried landrovers and found them to be pretty naff !!! as for half shafts snapping and driving like annimals i would argue that driving through i boggy field whilst toming in a trailer would not constitute "driving like an animal" mind you it was funny watching a Ranger tow the landy out and then the trailer . I know many of you drive Landrovers and are pretty passionate about them but honestly i do not rate them quite as highly especialy knowing that the chassis could snap if a put a good load of timber on the back lmao
  18. as far as i am aware both Lantra and NPTC are working together but still Lantra certs are not being acepted by quite a few organisations , im not sure if its still the case but LANTRA used to use the same assessor as the trainer and assessment is normally at the end of the training .
  19. i do agre that the jap 4x4's have gone to plasticy and hairdressery and this year sees out the current ford ranger to make way for the new style ranger that will look more like the ford f150 . But if as you say people are buying the defenders because they are going to be worked so hard and that the defender is designed to be worked hard then i would not expect them to break down as they do of for half shafts to break when off road in a field . especially when you look at the price difference
  20. Personally i would be inclined to take on board what im told by the fitters as they have no bias as they are not dealers and have upwards of 20 years experience in working on landrovers , in recent years they have also started working on mogs . i will speak to the fitters tomorrow and get more specific info on the problems they have had
  21. i have been asked to supply a chap with seasoned rings so that he can proces them and bag the logs himself , in just wondering how much to charge per 10 ton load of rings and possibly what to charge per 10 ton load of lengths - the guy is happy to have it all as soft wood too . Any ideas guys ?
  22. according To Western Power's mechanics they have had lots of trouble with them ! i would accept that you get the odd problem but with the ammounts they buy and the fact that they do not buy anything less than top of the range defenders with the special chasis and all the guys driving them get a totorial from landrovers off road training team i cant see that it could be a one off
  23. persoally knwoing the ammount of known problems there are with the current Defender i would not boter with one . I believe if you speak to Nisan you can order a commercial spec Patrole iwth factory fitted Tacho .
  24. Really sorry to hear that bud , hope you get it back soon !! .
