  1. I have been thinking about the idea of mounting a crane and chiper onto a lorry . Would it not be possible to buy a 10 ton lorry to mount the chiper & crane to and then aply to register as either specialist plant or to apply to have it registered to a restricted load ?
  2. nope not had any problems , i run lots of husky's and other then a problem with the husky57 carbs i can not complain - and husky replaced the carbs free of charge , unlikt stihl that expect you to buy the carbs to fix an ms200. As long as the new husky climbing saw is as good as the ms200 i will not be buying another stihl
  3. Why not ?
  4. not sure if it has already been said but if you are not experienced in identifying the voltage of a powerline , and not sure of what you can and cant do within proximity to them then i would be staying well clear of them , if it goes wrong even with LV you will get badly burnt and possibly end your carrer as a tree surgeon early . and possibly end up in a whole load of grief with the local utility firm
  5. personally the husky winns hands down , much more torque and i find them far more comfortable .
  6. Just thought i would congratulate tommer on the passing of cs 40 and 41 . Well done mate . hope tommer junior did not bend your ear too much earlyer
  7. to be honest if you need that sort of capacity and have it as your only truck then i would not bother.
  8. i know of a couple guys in the helston / pemzance area with the tickets and may need some work if it helps !!!
  9. nope all that comes up is a pic of your wife . i really must get some compuer lessons ha ha
  10. The capacity is fairly good Mark , as for the lockers they are biult into the tipper . the great thing about having a truck like this is that you can get into smaller sights or areas where acess is only a little wider than a foot path . we use ours along side the unimog to carry kit and timber but from time to time we stick a cipper behind it and get into areas that most other firms with a transit can not get to . i personally would say that it is a worthwhile tool .
  11. what sort of money is he wantin for it ?
  12. we use a single cab ranger tipper and can not fault it , it spends 4 out of 5 days off road and gets a fair bit of abuse . the tipper is fitted with a tool box but still it is a work horse and a really usefull bit of kit
  13. I can see what you mean BUT Road tax and insurance are 100% tax deductable , i would have thought that it would be cheaper to run arround in a small car (with more than two seats) . A landrover is a great piece of kit of you need 4x4 and spend a fair bit of time off road but 110 tipper does not carry as much chip (volume) as a canter . personally if you dont really need one then i would not bother with one
  14. heavy on fuel , uncomfortable and cramped at the best of times (if you over 5"8) . parts are cheap but drivng round in it socialy and for quoting work aint cheap . my advice would be to stick to the Canter and get a small car/ commercial - something like a peugot 306 commercial ?
  15. not sure if it has already been said but i would have a good look at the new VW 4x4 pickup , from what im told it is meant to be a really good bit of kit !!!!
  16. i wonder if the owner of the wall had planning permision to put that sign there !!!! there is no reason why that wall can not be repaired , if the trees were taken down would the wall actually be repaired to its former glory ? or is the wall actually covering up the real issue regarding the trees ?
  17. great stuff will pm you tomorrow when im in the office . Many thanks
  18. interesting Bob , the only splits i have seen on scaffolds like this have either been when they are on the ground or still hung up never seen anythng like this thats still in situ before
  19. hi Steve can i pre order a listing please
  20. not sure what the issue is with retieving a pulley saver but if it helps - with my Art pully saver i use the Art doube snapper for retrieving my pully saver .
  21. Does this really have anything to do with ll of us ??? I would think that anyone involved in this case would not be entring into such converstion on a public forum . The corronors report and findings of the inquest should be thurough enough dont you think ?
  22. such sad news , my thoughts are with the families at this time Please bare in mind that it is possible that someone who knew or was close to the girl/girls family may be reading this thread !!! our thoughts should be of sympathy at this time and not the blame or legal wranglings as to what hapened etc
  23. i personally use a Lock Jack and find it to cope well with sap BUT this is because it is only used with an Art friction saver . im not meaning to sound funny but i would be mindfull that posting threads that may advocate using faulty or condemed for climbing is possibly not such a good idea on a public forum that is used by many people including novices and beginners . sorry im realy not trying to sound awkward in any way
  24. i would keep the spikes , a 30" bar should deal with a fair amount of timber , i know its a pain in the arse cutting from both sides but hey its far cheeper than buying another saw
  25. i used to run my 288xp on a 36" bar , i found it to cut ok but in all honesty i quickly got a smaller bar and bought an ms880 for bigger work - this was 4 years ago , because of giving the saw an easyer time it is still working well to this day .
