  1. simples , smuggle it in and put it on the rad lol . failing that i think your not gonna have much luck mate
  2. phhaaaa pollard it and a bit of pink grip would have seen it rite . sad when it comes to people doing that to street trees or any tree for that !!
  3. hiya im looking for a timber trailer to go behind our Mog and was wondering if anyone has used a Kellve timber trailer ? riko sell them - Riko UK :: Forestry trailers any advice or feed back is greatly appreciated guys Cheers Dave
  4. guys it really is tempting , idealy i would love a front mount but all that holds me back is tht front mounting a 10inch chipper would probably not do the front axle any good at all
  5. personally when we are logging we tend to bern the waste - keeps you warm at lunch and smells nice , i could not be bothered chipping it or bagging it , its bad enought trying to get rid of chip let alone more rubish in nets lol
  6. they are good chippers , i have used them and can not really fault them , my only grumble is that i dont have one on the front or back of my mog lol
  7. what size tyres ?
  8. something to do with emissions and the amount they sell ah i see , nothing to do with it being to awkward to use with one hand
  9. yeah i passed , if im honest it was nore a case that it was not possible to achive a perfect work position from where i was due to a mechanicle defet within the tree so i ended up using a not so suitable secondery anchor point whilst making sure i was steady with my left hand and reaching with the other . correct me if im wrong guys buy as far as i was aware at the time i did my 40/41 training it was acceptable to use a saw with one hand in extream situatons where another hand is needed to assure a steady work position . Maybe the question is weather or not people feel that it is acceptable to use a saw with one hand where it is not required .
  10. in all fairnes a top handled saw has its place for use with one hand which is possibly why milions of pounds has gone into the development of these saws , while on my 40/40 assessment i was in a situation that required the use of my saw with one hand , the assessor is well known down here for failing candidates but when he questiond why i felt it was correct to do so i explained that i needed one hand to ensure that my work position would not be compramised . another question i have is why did stihl stop producing the back handled ms200 ?
  11. so how many of you place a date to which the quote is valid untill ?
  12. the biggest problem that i have had are other firms that quote for the same work as me but are not prepared to put out traffic lights where needed or not prepared to consult with highways , or netork rail etc etc . What im getting at is that they wil quote to do the samw job as me but to save money will not bother with what i would term " the professional approach to tree surgery , worse still i have recently been asked by one client to go round and look at some work that was done early last year by another company because they feel some of the work quoted for was not caried out and alot of it was not caried out to a decent standard . i dont mind competition as it is healthy but the competition is not quoting honestly then it beggins to grate !!!
  13. £49 ph is a fair price if the workshop are spot on and can fix the saw quickly but in most cases your not going to get that , i dont tend to use anyone , i would rather fix it myself learning a bit slong the way and having the piece of mind that the work has been done properly . maybe you could use this saw to learn a bit more about fixing them as you go . im sure there are several guys other than me on here that will give you a helping hand along the way .
  14. im pretty sure that some of the older husky's were fitted with venting fuel caps , this was only done for a while as they were not too good . as already stated start the saw leve it run untill it starts to die and then open the fue tank , if it picks up then you have a problem with the breather . hope this is of use to you
  15. i can see that there are plenty of reasons why we must not use a top handle saw with one hand in most situations but there are a fair few situations that require the use of the saw with one hand .
  16. no your not the only one ! that looks awfull but would some paint make it look any better ?
  17. nice job , the more i look at timber trailers the more i want one , maybe not quite that size ! dont think the mog would be too happy towing it lol
  18. hmmm now i want to get a mossberg pump more than ever !!!
  19. If you are profesional, realistic, honest with the customer and willing to price competivly then you are doing then best that you can do . only you know if the price your quoting is the best pice you can offer the client .
  20. the main difference is the BS numbers , commerciall helmets carry different BS numbers , also the harnessing within commercial helmets , also you may need to considder mounting points for eardefenders and visor
  21. no rob you may well not think that you have commited an offence but for the LA to place you under caution would lead me to believe that they are considdering taking legal action against you . But i fail to see how you can personally be prosicuted in any way .
  22. hiya John , are you serious that we can charge more down here ? most firms are charging betwene £250 and £275 a day for a 2 man team .
  23. this is why i make sure all of our tree reports are on headed paper with hand written name and signature of the auther . Anyway this still does not explain why your boss sent you to do the job ? lets be honest he is an employer and at the time you were employed by him and working under his directions and requests .
  24. maybe you need to get a coppy of this tree report the you apparently made and seek legal advice as to what you can do , if he can do this once and get away with it then who says he may not do this again ?.
  25. to be totally honest if you are charging £400 a day then i would guess thats what you are happy to work for , dont settle for a price you aint happy with . i work on the principle of winin 2 jobs for every 10 quoted , i will leave other to be busy fools buying work . so in a nutshell stick to your gunns !!!
