  1. so true , i was thinking something similar at work today , really there is no point in getting p***ed of about it , the more they do it the faster they will lose there business !! so really brian your helping your self
  2. verry nice job , i would have loved to have been involved it that job mate , great work tho mate !!!!
  3. you wont have any regrets at all mate , i have one and find it a really really good harness , thatgood that as soon as the new version is out i will be buying one
  4. i think brian would have a soft spot for him if he could do that lol
  5. ditto . also it has alot to do with your posture when cutting , how you handle the saw when your putting your cuts in and not rushing the cuts
  6. personally i have not changed my prices , if i had lowered my prices because of the credit crunch my customers would start to ask why i can afford to lower my prices and if im still making a living then surely i have been charging them to much all along , its just like the guy locally that offers O.A.P discounts , surely if he can work that cheaply for OAP's then he can work at the same rate for anyone elts ?? during the recession the danger of our job has not got lower and neither has the cost of the tools that we use , both stihl and husky have put their prices up by over 15% .
  7. lol do you get the tan as well ?? if so i think the crew cut would suit you just fine lol !!! that must be the guy the dangerous brian was on about in his thread regarding someone he was quoting aginst being majorly cheap , maybe thats how he can charge so little becaunse he only has to buy a pair of gloves every six months
  8. there are a few down here that have a reputation for being the cheapest down here but like i explain to customers - YOU GET WHT YOU PAY FOR when it comes to tree work , it may sound silly but if i did not work then i would still have a 6 inch chipper like the rest of therm but i dont i have a tw190 . this is only one example , all i know is once you get a name for being cheap you will find that the your client base will reflect this . the bloke the Brian was quoting against was at one point quite a large concern he has now lost alot of his staff but he is still having to quote so so cheaply just to keep his two man tem ticking over which to me spells out that things are not to rosey for him , but hey good luck if he wants to buy work then let him do it !!!
  9. some of the firms down here simply quote work that cheaply because they need to fill the diary , in the last 18 months i have seen 5 or 6 new firms set up and 4 of them are all fighting over the same work , personally if a firm wishes to work for free then good luck to them . as for the bigger firm having more kit , down here the big firms dont have any of the kit the anyone like MR Ed has , down here the "big" firms think they are going somewhere when they get more than one truck and chipper !!!! it really is totally different down here to any where elts i have ever worked in the country !!!!!
  10. did you know that cundurd it the cornish term for a drain lol acording to dangerous brian !!!!!!!!
  11. glad did that mate i would hate to lose the job:laugh1: i was thinking of asking tommer if he wanted to go in on it and earn 75 each
  12. even worse still , do not try using the small carry tool,s for suspending anything to big saw wise lol , a mate of mine in the london area did so a few weeks ago and the cary tool did not put up with the weight for too long before it dropped the saw , thankfully just missing a groundy but sadly killing the saw !!
  13. got my truck back today and after changing the fuel filter inside the injector pump , removing the origional watter trap and testing the fuel lines for dammage we were no further forward other than knowing that air was geting into the fule some how . so we took the rear body to find that the pipe on top of the sender unit had cracked , so a couple hours later the truck was being put back together and is working like new , it must have been losing power really slowly for quite some time . ut now its working like a treat !!!! thanks for al of the advice lads it really did help and the fitter was quite supprised that i knew a bit more about it then expected !!!
  14. normally the job would have ben a bit easyer but there is only the two of us at the moment but hey you just have to get on with it really lol , will post more pictures when i get if finnished guys ,
  15. yeah i was thinking about what you had said about the pump while i was tryig to get it running properly , it seems to be getting starved of fuel so thats alot of the reason i sent it up to the fitter to do and asked him to take the fuel pump appart and give it a good clean just to make sure . im pretty certain its fuel starvation because when i took the main fuel filter off it was not full to the brim and pooring all over my hands like they normally are , but ance fitted with a new filter full of diesel she started like a goodun !!! sad;y i just int got time to be doing the work my self . Oh and to top it all off my subaru went it for a SMALL problem to be sorted which for some reason turnes into a BIG problem and has ended up costing me £756.97 !!!! oh the joy's !!!!!!! and they tell me that mogs can be expensive to run !!
  16. and you really do not want on of the new defenders according to the fitter at my local western powerd yard he has taken more of there landrovers back to the local landrover dealer than he can remember !! some are on there third and fourth trips back !!!! and at one point they had more of them off the road being fixed than they had on the road !!!!!!!!!!
  17. nope sadly i aint seen them mate , what was the thread ? i will have a look for them
  18. in that case im still stuck in the olden days lol
  19. i hve been using the woody product today and it has been really really good , the second attachment strap really makes an ultra secute fit ti the tree but i still would really like a GCRS , i would love to come out on a site and see one in action but im right down in cornwall sadly , also has anyone ever looked the the riging dvd's ?
  20. thanks gibbon mate i had a look at the link to honeys and it looks like an amazing bit of kit
  21. hiya justin , do you have any more into on the skylotec mate ?? , do they do a size 4 for the sequoya
  22. i carried on using it but its still not got its power back and its got really hard to start , normally once i have got it started it misses a bit but eventually runs like it should but is still a bit guttless so yeserday i sent it up the the agricultual fitter that i use and he will have a look tomorrow but im still at a loss as to what it could be , i have changed the fuel filter and cleaned out the fuel lines !
  23. as it says on the tin , has anyone got any pictures of the GCRS in action please , im really interested in getting one but do not know much about them so any pics and advice would be greatly appreciated thanks guys !!
  24. hmmmm now selling the mewp and getting a new lowering device does sound like a plan to me !!! as for the strop your bang on bob , i wish i had bought a rope to go with it but sadly as you can probably see im still climbing on marlow rope !!!
  25. the limb ripped a bit as i was wanting to get the limb to swing round and away from the head stones i was working over , as for the saw strop im really not sure whats up in that picture but the strop is not tied together nor has it been cut lol , as for the grcs i can only add it to my wish list , the rest of the tree will be comming down tomorrow after i have finnished the job that we were called away too lol
