  3. why not re condition it ?? i had one on an old truck that did not work at all but after a few hours spent in the work shop it was working like new , with most of the tipper motors that parts are verry common and easily sourced
  4. hi gus i was in at my local tyre centre today ordering some new tyres for my ranger tipper and cought a glimps of these , they are meant to be 80% off road tyres and much much better than their previous MT's any of you guys using them ??
  5. i guess you cant go into the good and bad points as yet , i was chatting to fletcher stewart and they did say about the side d rings being to close to something , i really do like the current version but would prefer quick release leg loops and better saw attachment as well oh and maybe somewhere for a first aid kit lol
  6. great job Reg , how are you finding the new version skylotec ?? is it as good as i was lead to believe up at the aa show ?? i have the origional skylotec but its getting a bit on the worn side now and im wondering if its worth waiting for the new one to be released .
  7. thats what im using and i swear by them , they are really sharp from new and not hard to keep sharp
  8. who in cornwall did the servicing ?? im looking to get a tirfor at the moment . do you guys get your tirfors LOLER inspected ??
  9. seems like a usefull ticket to have but tbh it overlaps windblown trees and how often do you get a situation where you can set winches up etc , normally we are expected to clear the road of powerline asap . I was wondering why there has not been a CS unit introduced for climbing and making safe dammaged/ strom dammaged trees . Back in the last storms we were working with another company and the majority of their climbers only hold CS38&39 and to be honest it was quite shocking watching what a couple of them were prepared to do and actually thought that what they were about to do was acceptable , i drew the line when i was asked to climb a turkey oak that had heaved its root plate and all that was holding a 60 foot tree up was 3 11kv powerlines of which had partially burn through the stem where the tree and powerlines had made contact !
  10. thats a really handy post gibbon , after i got off of the phone to you i kicked my self as i was going to ask you about your on line degree . im really keen on doing one , i was going to do my tec cert but several people have said that you might just as well go strait to the foundation degree , how long does it take ?
  11. i would go with the chicken wire myself
  12. yeah i do , i even tell them about a guy on arbtalk called huck who personally try to model my self on because he is so witty !!!!
  13. hmm think i may give the long gaffs a go and see how it goes but only on thick barked trees . as for what point to stop climbing i usually t=tent to stop when the pole gets to a little thicker than my wrist
  14. personally i really recomend doing refresher courses , any refreshers i have been on have normally been where a tag onto a course for beginners and what a laugh it is watching them lmao well worth a couple days in a forrest watching newbies lol
  15. make on out of scaffold and second hand chequer plate ha ha that should result in an inkeeping look lol , jokes , give east devon 4x4 a shout im sure they do all the expedition gear
  16. well our local dealer aint even been given any info on the saw yet so im guessing it will be nearer this time next year:thumbdown:
  17. i was just looking at the price of the gaffs and they are pretty cheep so i may give them a try , if i dont like them i will post them to you wrapped in photos of me taking the trees down lmao:thumbup:
  18. tell you what tho i bet that old sj410 that may was driving would give tommers landy a run for its money
  19. i have a set without the cinch bar and find them awkward to get tight enough but i think i will get another pair with the cinch bar fitted (the steel loop bit )
  20. tbh i dont know too much about it , i spoke to a stihl dealer a few weeks ago and they seem to think that it will be a waist of time buying one untill they have been out in cerculation for a good 18 months due to the ECU like system that is being used on the saw , but that was only there oppinion
  21. fook the long gafs then , did you get the velcro pads for your bashlins ??
  22. right brian i wanrt to see you in the vauxal , tommer in his landy and shane in the bedford rascal go and do it lol my money is on shane winning lmao , as for bob i think you will find pat butcher gave him one (an aliby that is)
  23. double the throw line up im sure it will be ok'ish to climb on lmao on second thoughts dont try that
  24. exactly !!! where is the fun in that , would it not be more exciting to see some propper risky stuff done ?? it makes you wonder just how mentall the people must be that actually live there tho:thumbup:
