  3. same goes, tried a couple of places and they couldn't do it. Happily buy another pair though.
  4. Nice post Joe. Just a quick Q i've been told my another SJ user that he wasn't a fan or using it for reductions due to the fact when your above your achor point it keeps tending the slack and pulling you back. Now i've had this with a VT at times but just wondering if you've had any problems with that on the SJ and/or any remedies for it. As i'm tempted to get one....
  5. depends if their are lovely ladies about, always seem to wear a slightly tighter shirt shows off my well toned body:001_cool:i like to think so anyway Extra medium for me:lol:
  6. Nothing wrong with what their doing very comon practice. I've stopped police cars by hand before, also had one fly through with the sirens blazing and i had to try and stop it as it would have got mullered otherwise.
  7. Making the course longer and harder won't work in my view, as it takes years to produce a GOOD climber. Of the problems that steve listed on a tree of over 50 foot if you have 3 minutes for a bad cut, by the time you've got your kit on and less than half way they would be dead (thats if you weren't out front chipping for 5 minutes) A badly chrushed climber would be in a terrible state and would take alot of time to comfort and get down on the deck. and extended periods of time upside down isn't healthy. To put it bluntly unless you can get yourself down theres a good chance you will die. What happens if you do get your climber down in 3 minutes, you then have to treat him and phone an ambulance (at the same time) another 7 minutes. Whilst treating the injured with sub par medical kit ( most seem to contain little plasters and nonsense kit whilst skimping on the large wound dressings and useful stuff) Then theres the fact i don't believe many experienced people would be mentally able to proform when their mates claret is pouring out the tree and he's screaming. Having put this question to very experienced climbers before it has make ALL think. Of course you can take all day if a climbers ropes trapped/cut if you wanted, as their only going to die of boredom. So yeah....experienced or not its just not cut and dried, Cs38 and ariel rescue is a box ticker for H&S and a feel good factore for us climbers nowt else.
  8. My policy has always been if your nice to us i'll happily wangle a few extras (within reason) I must say i'm pretty bad at making people tea, but i'll often show them where things are and let them help their selves.
  9. whn You complain about the heat:001_cool:
  10. The sad truth is you cant. Any determined tea leaf after the thousands of pounds worth of kit will come prepared. Padlocks can be picked, cut or lanced off, heck i even have my own lockpick set. Same with chains, wheel clamps etc. Just make it as hard as you can use mutiple locks the longer it takes the better, noise is a good tactic place a bell/heavy chain on the underside of the chipper as they drive off, lift it onto a lorry it'll make a racket. Any loud noise is good. Get an alam that texts you too. Can you put the pigs in with the machinery overnight? Sounds daft but a pig farmer hold me they will literally eat you alive if you fall over...could be useful....???
  11. Bloody hell! Some chuffing people! Hope the guy makes a quick recovery
  12. Hove based bod here would be up for a reccy climb. How does Stanmer park in Brighton sound to people got some nice trees to monkey round? Its right on the A27 and also has good public transport options, buses and a train station across the road.
  13. Seen it happen, squirrel damage under ivy. Had a few crack but not give way myself. The weakest part of a climbing system is the tree and their pretty damn strong most of the time.
  14. Theres only one what that worked for me and that was throwing myself in at the deep end. Maybe 300 people as few notes as possible and ad lib as much as i could. Was bricking it, but it went really well and public speaking doesn't bother me too much now. It helps when there are people who know the subject well. also tart with a joke or just get wasted before hand........
  15. Done it twice now:blushing:
  16. Used both alot, 441 has far better anti vibes which is a big plus for me. Seems about the same cutting wise. Noticably heavier than the 440. Air filter is better but still ain't all that, tank of fuel seems to go further too.
  17. You can lanyard into them but not hang i believe. Dont get why though as the bridge is on them?
  18. I couldn't decide between the two, bought the petzl as it was cheaper great harness. Bought the TM a few months later and haven't got the sequoia out since. I only use the lower Ds on the TM as i've never liked side Ds. The elastic is certainly a pain in the butt......literally.
  19. Comments on spliced termination Haven't tried it, worth a shot.
  20. 20-30% reduction, light thin. If reduced well they don't go that crazy with regrowth.
  21. Another vote for Yale Double Esterlon
