  1. Neither; Supercab, Extra Cab, King Cab depending on what make you're talking about. Tool storage space and occasional passenger carrying capability.
  2. Tyres are discussed from page 2 onwards. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/63451-arbor-trolley.html?highlight=trolley
  3. So impressed was I with the coat rack subject of this thread that I asked James to make me up one. This is what he managed to throw together one evening. A gorgeous piece of wood; the photos are slightly yellow as the sapwood is actually all but white. The hooks are blacksmith's. The finish is superb; smooth and with a silk sheen if you see what I mean and all edges rounded off. The rack will probably end up adorning the wall of an apartment in a 15th century former salt mill a few miles south of Salzburg. Many thanks James. Jon
  4. I've got an early version and find it's of limited use against a slope - the sheet slides under the load - but if you can get the pickup's front wheels slightly raised it's great.
  5. Oooh look what I've started! Lovely Steve; pic 3 suggests that the outside could have been left almost as it appears there, i.e. with knobbles!, and just the inside turned out. Could it have been?
  6. Not arguing as no-one has a crystal ball. Your last paragraph seems contradictory; with the first line you disagree with me, with the second you agree!
  7. Ah - phew, though I think most stuff from round here goes to Drax and Thetford anyway. Cheers.
  8. You mean nationally? That could cause some red faces at Stobarts!
  9. ...now. But so were Japanese goods when that economy was exploding in the 60s. Now look at the quality. China will go the same way.
  10. Got it - cheers. I thought the usual way would have been to have the bottom of the bowl towards the outside of the tree so you get a flat rim and so that half the bowl at least curves with the outside of the wood but I'm assuming that the rim of yours is the curve of the branch/stem.
  11. Loving that third one Steve. Am I right in thinking it's been turned the wrong way round so to speak, i.e. from the outside of the tree inwards rather than the other way round as per usual? Jon
  12. You obviously have concerns about the tree - or rather your wife does - so spend the money on peace of mind and get a consultant. You'll never know whether it really is safe without doing so. Ditto re the logs: you're looking at a heck of a lot of very hard work to build a stack of logs you can't touch for at least a couple of years; old lore allowed 'an inch a year' for seasoning oak, the inch referring to the thickness of the wood.
  13. I've brought a couple of small pieces (10" dia) back to Surrey from Devon and it's been well received for milling.
  14. I've been waiting for this as it was inevitable wasn't it: improving tecnology = greater efficiency -> smaller logs. A bit of a pain but 'progress'!
  15. ...and at surprisingly small size too as they can turn pens and similarly tiny things from it. 2" branches can be of use to them.
  16. If this arrangement comes off and there's no hurry let me know; I'll be doing a Devon visit in December and have one item for an Arbtalker there already booked. Jon
  17. The merchant's a mug then! For me smaller logs gets a smaller load in volume; same vehicle stacked less high.
  18. Help us out Al - I'm not a member so can't access whatever the link goes to.
  19. Abso-flippin'-lutely. For the first time ever the other day I saw a professionally made sign on a verge 'no reversing onto road unless under direction'.
  20. This may help. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/60/section/4
  21. I've never had that but I always wash them inside out; it may help you.
  22. Not top of the market but Dickies are worth a look. Same sort of price as the Hoggs and a good range.
  23. Undoubtedly. The population is rapidly increasing but we're spoilt here in Caterham: I was working in Teddington this morning and the place is overrun with the horrors. I've not myself seen a flock here the size of the one glued to the house so I'm thankful for small mercies - for now. Jon
  24. Captured by the missus Friday morning: the end of our opposite neighbour's house.
  25. As described by my chiropracter... if the ps & ns are in your thunb, index and middle fingers the problem is in your neck. If they're in your fourth and fifth fingers the problem's in the shoulder/armpit. So it would seem likely a nerve's pinching in your neck. I get ps & ns in bed a lot and stretching the affected side of my neck sorts it. Jon
