  1. I have a CAT 307, I have a tilty bucket for ditching and scraping. It's £1500 and does 2 things, tilt 1 way, tilt another! Not a tilt rotator is a diferent tool altogether. if you are road making and ditching then it's the tool for the job but it's big money!
  2. We are talking about a job where there was no charge for removal Billy, free tree to help yourself too, process it and then charge them for the logs.
  3. the lack of information can only make our minds run wild!
  4. Give the teachers a link to woodchip and let them decide! I gave tons to schools over the years and never had any problems
  5. If you do it for nothing, process it and sell it to them as firewood then you may be able to, as long as there is no charge for labour
  6. Do less, buy a hammock and get a drink with a wee umbrella in it!
  7. It was labour so 20%, you can make up anything you like but if you get an investigation it may be harder to keep a straight face sitting across from a wee lady with half moon glasses on
  8. But a front mounted chipper, they are lighter and already have the reverse gearbox in place if needed. A long wheel base Mog is approx 1m longer than standard so you can do your math from there. You could buy a normal chipper and then add the gearbox and make it to suit a din plate if youmwerenthat way minded.
  9. I'd be a couple of grand better off a quarter! time for change me thinks!!
  10. Certainly worth looking into, most of my fuel is derv so it's only 5%, I've got enough saws to last me and I could just buy 4 if I wanted the vat. What's the turnover you need to be under?
  11. Can you claim vat back on fuel on the scheme? Can you explain it for dummies please Al!
  12. when I put my prices up a few years back on the domestic side it went 2 ways. I had been VAT Reg for years but always done the domestic cheap and pretty much ran at a loss with them. Some customers went off their heads and I soon realised they only used me because I was cheap and the other half said no bother. What I would do is keep their jobs on the ' gap fill ' jobs list. So if I had been out with a squad and all the kit and was heading home at 4pm, it would be overtime for the boys, I'd made my money that day and the customer was happy. If someone busts your head to do it immediately say no bother we are £4 a minute plus vat and haven't a clue when we will finish and I need paid straight Way, they soon look sheepish, then say if you are willing to wait until I have a gap I can do you a much better deal and explain.
  13. The manager could of left on bad terms and anything to do with him will be a bad taste in their mouth. I'd go and speak with them and if they are genuinely un aware of your job then try and meet in the middle and put the blame on this other guy, shake hands and keep a good customer! Even if you could cover your costs and take your share on the chin. If they just point blank palm you off then small claims court like Felix says. Horrible when it happens, very stressfull and unfair
  14. My ninja Jcb mate said the exact same! If his hands are out front then it's back hoe, by his side the servo but on the micros he was all over the place!!!
  15. Personally I'd give the job I wide berth!
  16. The battery saws are excellent for pruning and save a lot of starting
