Maybe not stop doing them overnight as we do have bills to pay but a little at a time and planning for our future and our families. It's ok for us to eat some brufen and man up but when our bodies get to the point we can't earn and we haven't changed or adapted is a better word then the people that love us and we provide for suffer. The only real cure is to stop doing the things that cause it! Prevention is better than cure! The guys have covered all the remedies and things that help a bit.

When people have to make desicions under pressure, they are going to use their own Morals! That's not a rule, that's not right or wrong. As a company owner you have to have policies to which your employees follow. These need discussed before employment at the interview stage. You may of had a bad day, you may of had a good day, the person in question may be the golden boy they may be the useless guy! If it's the useless guy then expectations are of laziness so on the flip side the good worker gets penalised when they need something in return from the employer. If the climber needs to go and the tree isn't finished and you have 4 guys on site well that's a pita. The are rules of employment out there you need to follow whether you are a 1 man band or Tescos! It's that simple, it's not a moral dilemma!

It's a roll the turd in glitter scenario unless you are doing a micro scopoic timber rotation harvest type thing for a chiminea. Pollarding is an agricultural method from the days gone by. If you go to Old villages in Italy you can see some amazing trees at the side of old houses. They basically grow firewood. It's brilliant, big ugly unbalanced, rotten, fallen over trees that as long as there is still a bit in the ground just keeps on growing.

I've spent thousands over the years on Private Ostios, I've went weeks without working due to injury, if I need money and can't earn it I sell something I have. Cut the crown in half, simply cut the half dozen verticals stems and let nature fill it it in, then go back next year and cut the wispy ends back 3 ft, go back the next year and start taking out the thicker stems which are now being replaced by the new growth. after 3-4 years they will have a bushy lollipop! If they are happy with this end result you could just propose to cut it to a 6' pole in the first place and they will have a better lower down version in 2 years with no attempt at being all pretend caring for trees. I tell people it will never be a lovely little tree again, that ship has sailed! The day you put a saw into a tree that isn't a felling cut you will always have to go back and put a saw into a tree. The other very simple way to determine which management plan is best is ask how much they want to spend, that usually cuts to the chase

I have used these for about 8 years now, I'm on my second pair, I have found they are quite poorly made, my last set were a few hundred quid I think, worked great but after a few months packed in, so I got them sent away and fixed, they packed in again and have been on the shelve for about 4 years now.
