  1. I was taking the maximum I could take as was my wife, that's why we paid a lot of NI but it was about 13% I think. I just wanted my cake and to eat it and I thought you could by going ltd, but you can't:laugh1: Steve I've never known anything about the other NI:confused1:
  2. Sorry I can't stop looking at the stubs in your avatar to answer your question
  3. My nieghbour has 2 nice Landrovers and an expensive looking Rib, him and his wife are really nice people and their garden boundaries mine. 2 of my trees are close to the boundary and overhang his parking area more than mine. He never asked or mentioned the trees but it was something I was aware of when I bought the property as did I notice my other nieghbours trees close to my conservatory on the other side, I mentioned to him my concern and offered to remove them at no cost if that was ok but in no way were they extremely dangerous, just taller than the distance from the base to my house. Long story short I cut down my 2 to remove the risk and liability and I cut down my nieghbours 3 to save him the same stress. Everyone happy, they are only trees.
  4. You must be in your 80's with 65 years experience, fair play! So no research then!
  5. So there's no measuring gizmo? I think for a felling line it's a good idea though
  6. Best crane I've had is a Mowi, brilliant lifter and the best for crane feeding Chippers due to the parallel boom thing! Lift the branch off the ground an inch, pull the main boom lever and it keeps that height all the way back to the crane base.
  7. I can only go on my experience, it was a pita! I was doing it simply to try and reduce my tax bill, no other reason due to the chancellor changing the tax offset on machinery for 2012-21013 I think it was . All it did was give me no access to my funds unless I wanted to pay 40%, a huge NI bill every month compared to about £12 sole trader, it gave my suppliers an element of doubt when giving me credit on materials and borrowing was starting from scratch with no books! I ditched it after 6 months due to an end of a contract, it didn't save me any tax and just cost me a lot of accounting fees and a delayed tax bill!
  8. What other industries have you researched to back up your claim? I don't believe I wanted it to break spectacularly, I just have a lot on my mind and previously every time I looked at it, it was ok! I honestly didn't think Petzyl were that fussed about the problem, if they were they would be demanding a recall, not just send it back and get a new 1 in the post. I still haven't sent it back, it's sitting here on my desk and I wouldn't be surprised if it's still there this time next week.
  9. Ok what about in the way you have created the natural fracture, mechanical break versus cut with saw and then cut to mimic a real break. Is there any obvious differences in re growth within the same species? I would think it would have a much different effect. The bigger the force the larger the survival mode so to speak. What's your thoughts on that ?
  10. I put a cable tie on the throttle, just enough so it can slip off and on. Put a small rope between 2 points on the mill and once it's started then it can be pulled along. It's still a 2 man job to be fare to do it safely and easily!
  11. When working a single mill, I prefer using a rope to pull the saw along! Keeps the vibes down, fumes out your face and away from the saw. The saw runs nice too and you don't influence the cut which can make marks on the timber, let the saw do its job
  12. When lifting the saws into place, lift the mill not the handles of the saw! They can't take the extra weight and leverage and you will wreck the anti vibes and things that hold it together!
  13. It all depends on your colleagues! Most people are sound and just want to crack on, have no drama and just get through their day with a smile on their face. Unfortunately you do get trouble makers who no matter is in charge of them will just want to be a pita! You will know this person in 10 seconds of meeting them! This is when you need a good manager or boss above you, if this is the case address it immediately! For all I know you may be that person and may love the power and make everyone else's life a misery:lol: Don't think too much, just crack on and see what developes:thumbup1:
  14. Don't be shy about putting up pics of the new Mog now mate!! Come on !!
  15. The power is nuts and the difference between the pushing and the pulling side is huge. The start and the finish is the bit you would struggle with yourself even if you managed to set up a trigger gizmo. Also the operators need to work together and you both don't run full tilt, 1 does and the other balances things out when you hit harder or softer wood. Difficult to explain . I've worked with 2, 088's on my double mill
  16. Lucky I checked it today as my 2 boys were watching me work!
  17. Today I learnt if the foot pedal for the boom slew is a bit stiff, don't stamp on it as it can boom round quickly and stay in that position! Fortunately I was in amongst small trees and not buildings or vehicles!! I spent ages trying to free it off, nothing! Eventually I undid the bolts and wiggled it about a bit and sorted it! Gave me a fright of what could of happened!! I'll contact Exac on Monday Eddy
  18. I don't have any problems chipping in the back unless the blades get dull and I've been lazy not changing them and thee isn't a blower on my Ducker.
  19. Who makes the screw splitter grab Eddie? That's awesome and exactly what I want!
  20. 1000 speed for chipping back or front
  21. Morning! I'm not taking the pee! My way is the same as yours, I just never realised it Then it hit me , last night after reading Cornish's post! Why his and not all of yours I don't know! What I should of said originally was ' I don't like shear pins and never mentioned weakness' Of course my tirfor is weaker than all my other stuff, that's why I haven't broken any of it !! Feeling somewhat embarrassed tbh!
