  1. I just spike everything, there's always a BT or power line around so if it's ok for utility it's ok for me
  2. Well you guys are just too good! I thought it was a huge Kertoniasta!
  3. A first time for me, cracking tree to work on.
  4. I remember trying to climb skinny poles in the woods with a strop between my feet when I was 20 Never managed it!
  5. Being strong certainly helps, especially when keeping your climbing basic. Climbing around talk leggy ash behind tenements and high flats where there are power lines and phone lines so throw lines are out and if not spiking then strength comes into its own. I am am half the speed and climber I was when I was in my twenties.
  6. Zip tie versus hips, not for me. Not saying it's not a good idea and it wouldn't work just not for me. Hence why I zip line now, it's so easy
  7. I'd never have it clipped to me! Zip line everything, lowering is prehistoric imho!
  8. Are you wanting to be lLTD to cover yourself in case you go belly up? Have you a failed business already? My first thoughts which are from a Moral standpoint is, pay your bills, if you make a mess of things then tough, sell your kit and house and pay people that need paid. Secondly if you make a big mistake and you need to claim your insurance say against a tree through a house or injure someone then you can't hide behind a LTD company like a lot of people think, you are responsible, they will come for you and rightly so. Maybe if you are Apple or IBM you could hide behind paperwork barriers. As far as bank charges, if you are worrying about £15 a month as a cost then maybe forget being in business. Ltd company in my eyes is for 1 reason, to keep tax at 20% and avoid the higher tax brackets.
  9. This is what I need, if I could switch it between a fixed head on the Cat, with the rotator on the cat and then use it on the mogs Hiab then I'd be onto a winner I reckon!
  10. I don't train anymore at the gym. Works there to pay some bills, that's it. My lower back can't take 7 days anymore, time is precious so I work 2-4 days a week, rest more, try and sleep more and take cold swims in the river, that really helps! I also go to the pub more, relax and socialise with new friends and that helps reduce stress and anxiety for me.
  11. Not sure, I go more on value for what I get. The lighter the better either with a Tilty head which I would use with my buckets as well or with a fixed rotator. I would of thought around the £4-£6k
  12. I have a gps rescue gadget, they have all my details, area of work, know what I do and relevant injuries that come from this line of work. It's part of the Arbaid kit.
  13. I have a business lease on my T5 over 4 years. More tax efficient and I pay finance on 55% of the vehicles value.
  14. All looking great Eddie, needing your advice again about tree shears, wanting an energy head for the Cat 2.7d, I see Jas P is selling some. Any input appreciated. Must be able to cut and hold
  15. It's a thankless job imo! Ive said to every lad that's ever worked alongside or for me, unless you want to climb or fell trees then grounding is not a career! It's a job you do until you get a real job. If school qualifications aren't great and they are fit I advise them on the Police, firebrigade or even a building site. Working for a small outfit then there is no regular breaks and you will be working for a bad tempered stressed owner operator who has had to work crazy miserable hours so expects everyone else to and be grateful!! Get a job with a big company, get all the Tickets on their time and then try and get a job driving something where it's warm and comfy
  16. 2 very strong people but not a pleasant experience! They don't like dead stuff, pretty whacky on the fingers.
  17. How much do they want to spend? Cheapest way is fell it on the lawn, a few bumps can easily be fixed with a garden fork.
  18. £400 a week. Sounds like you are self employed when you shouldn't be.
  19. This came up on Facebook last year, the guys who made the pic did it for a laugh.
