  1. I’ve had my CS100 for 8 years now, it can go a couple of months between use these days. Usually first pull and it’s away. I sold it 2 years ago then bought it back because I missed her!
  2. Thanks and I hope you heal quick!
  3. J I’ve been to An Ostiopath monthly for 22 years, always just abuse and graft. My new physio blames Stress in around my shoulders. Doctor reckons it’s Scariiilittis, inflammation in that joint hence sore after rest, better after movement. Once my X Ray gets back Doctor should have a better idea of what’s going on.
  4. Government puts in 20%, if you draw it out at 55 you can pay between 25-25% on the lump. I put enough into a pension that I don’t notice.
  5. Hell yeah, if it doest work you just get a job! I now treat life like those old pedal mopeds. Sometimes you can cruise along and an odd time you have to pedal like mad then it’s back to cruising! I’ve invested £100k in kit before and I wasn’t any better off so I’m not doing that again!
  6. Depends on what stage it’s at before being felled. If it was in decline with some large cavities you could be good to go. I don’t know if there’s an exact answer regarding moisture, hopefully someone else might know.
  7. Hip hinge! I’ve just googled That! The only time my back is sore is when I bend to pick something up, I usually try and squat to lift stuff but after a looking at a couple of utube videos I think this is where I’ve been going wrong! I’ve not been sticking my backside back , I just fold over! And twang! Blaming tight hamstrings! Thoughts?
  8. Pictures of your work are a great visual tool for potential employers to gauge your skill level and quality of work.
  9. I’m not needing 1 just now, great buy for someone!
  10. Heal quick!! Sounds agony!
  11. I never mentioned the odd branch. Just because you can’t imagine it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work if you know what to do. Friction can be added anywhere from the ground to the attachment point, it’s up to the climber to decide which will work best.
  12. Stunning machine!
  13. I heard he got a modelling contract!
  14. Once you have used both methods hundreds of times, you will know which is best just by looking at the job and who you have on the ground.
  15. Dilz you asked about top friction, I think that’s a misleading term. You have the friction where you can control it, as in where you are cutting. You just wrap the rope around something! Be it the stem or a branch. Depending on what you are doing. It’s not smooth, forget that word when lowering without a pulley or bollard. It can be smooth ish sometimes but most of the time it’s juddery! It just means the tree is taking the strain instead of the climber or groundie.
  16. From my understanding if all other routes have been exhausted. Each party pays a few hundred quid to the council and they bring in an expert, what he says goes. Interested to hear info on this too.
  17. Imagine it’s a pot hole on the road, do you think the council would let someone with their wheel barrow and bag of tar fill them up? It’s someone else’s work, you have been told this. I’d imagine they have prioritised their jobs and the ones you are seeing are further down the list. It’s a bit like turning up at your mates house un announced when you know there’s a party and you are not invited.
  18. Wake up, make a lot of noises trying to get my socks and clothes on. Go to cafe, eat food, drink coffee, that washes down the brufen, nurofen and glucosamol. Try and work out what I'm doing that day. Go and get a heat patch for my back and hobble about most of the day!
  19. Yes mate! It’s got the 3rd pipe for the over flow, something about oil pumps can’t seal so it must return through an extra pipe. Tom will know more about it I reckon.
  20. I’ve got a hydraulic pump that runs off the 3 tonners hydraulics that fits on a PTO, if you get a digger, sticking the winch on the front would be great for woodland jobs! It came off this chipper.
  21. Have the revs on tick over Mike on 540. I had the same 1 on a 120hp JD, no probs.
  22. I spent £300 on a big rope, pulley and a friction device 13 years ago. I used the device a few times and chucked it under the bench. These days I zip line everything, took still going strong. It will cost you less than a saw to put a kit together. Add it to your kit you take to the job and put £20 onto your day, tell the boss if any of his staff damage your kit, he replaces it or it stays in the van. Give them the option.
  23. I think around 2 years. I did 3 months hiring a mate with trailer, hired a mates tractor and chipper then got a jeep and old trailer, then transit with high sides and cut it all down and burnt it, then got a chipper.
