  1. In your view Rob what is the best sharpening system on the market I use the Stihl file guide kits and flat file.
  2. Most of my wood is around the 20 - 25% I would sooner not sell the wood if higher
  3. Very informative Video Rob and Well explained wondered how that worked, now I know.
  4. The climbers who help me out from time to time all muck in and help out with the other jobs. That,s the one reason I use them again when needed
  5. It is a great site for learning, networking, general banter and a good laugh. Cant fault the site thanks to Steve and all the mods hard work.
  6. I first started on a YOP scheme in the early 80s with Warwickshire county Land Agent Planting trees, felling trees putting up fences and working in the woodlands. A very good year of my life not much money lots of hard work. That is what got me into this kind of work and I still love it 30 years later.
  7. That is one big tree nice one Reg I take it you are enjoying BC even if the weather is not the best.
  8. Thanks arborholic Sherwood sounds good, cant do this weekend for hatfield to busy at work
  9. I use Orange Plant or Saturn both work well Saturn are cheaper but not genuine
  10. That will only last for so long James, when my wife helps out it ends up costing more at the hairdressers and shops. Yogi if the wood costs £20 a tonne you should make good money on that as logs. It is labour intensive as it will all need to be sawn / split and the dry out so you will need space to store it as well. Good luck with logs if you do try it.
  11. Very Nice work Alex, love the dog
  12. I would be up for anything in the Midlands area and bring another guy with me
  13. We had our poppy's on all week and had 2 mins at 11 on Friday. The guy who works with is just out of the army 10 months ago and has a lot of friends in Afghan still.
  14. Great work nice fire. Good shot Rich
  15. I was always told between £25 - £30 per man per hour which works out for 2 men for 6 hours work. Between £300 - £360 this would include removal of waste. This would be for a job in local area. Travelling would need to be taken in to consideration if further away.
  16. I just smile as the customers laugh at me in my own little world. I do sound bad though
  17. I pay £60 - £70 a day for brash dragger no saw use.
  18. I know just how you feel, loud bang and a few sparks and bits of secateurs stuck in the head board. Thankfully it only damaged the blades, they will need grinding 3 times to get them right Think I need a new set of secateurs though
  19. I often listen to my mp3 player when mowing and hedge cutting, but don't use it on tree work. often get caught singing to loud which is not good I am no X factor contestant
  20. If you want to be a climber the cs38 and cs39 are worth looking into. They will cover the basics but what you need most of all is experience and lots of practice Only time and hard work can make you good at your job
