  1. Yes they are shallow rooted. The wood is thin and bendy, and the bark is easly damaged. Good tree to gain confidence. In fifteen years of climbing and15 stone i have yet to break an anchor. Standard lowering with a rope, pully and slings will cope with silver birch. Take your time and learn from your mistakes.
  2. The most that i have ever got for poplar is £15 per cube. It is unpopular timber to burn: acred smoke, burns quickley with little heat, and difficult to dry due to the waterproof nature of its bark. Are you sure you want 2 lorry loads ?
  3. If your instructor is any good, he will get the best out of you and make it enjoyable. Don't worry and enjoy.
  4. What do you do with your saws to keep loosing the chain catcher ? I have had my 200t 12 years and i have not lost one yet. As for looking after it, it get cleaned when it wont start or something is broken.
  5. Yer darn totting right. mmmmmm sweet lady cider
  6. I like it, i want it, but the wife says no. How do you use the yellow sliders, i have not seen that type before.
  7. It does not really matter, so long as the helmet has Sordin muffs.
  8. Is mine festive enough ? P.S. happy crimbo everybody
  9. That looks just like mine. But i wrapped gaffer tape around the hose pipe to stiffen it up.
  10. I want one But if each one is hand made i am not going to be able to afford it.
  11. Split tails as you can adjust the lenght. But i would prefer to use a VT system
  12. What a beautiful place to play i mean work with big toys.
  13. Food for thought, particularly for rigging applications where the ropes we use have very little stretch.
  14. Lighter fluid works well (petrol one). The nozzle is excatly the right size for the hole, and you can give a satisfying squirt. It does not stain and only smells for a short time.
  15. I would imagine that his chest felt a bit tight after breathing in all that dust. It makes my large ash that i have to prune tomorrow look like a sapling.
  16. Do you want the completed form email to the link on the form or to another address ?
  17. Tis a good saw, but it does not sound like a stihl anymore. I put it down to the spring vibration dampeners. It also does not 'tinkle' when it is running with the chain brake off. Not that i do such thing.
