  1. He probably had some poor apprentice handing him the saw for every cut. All blubbing and caked in sawdust. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. You would like to think so. I saw a tree report this week that said out of 46 trees, 36 of them should be 'retained at their current size with regular cyclical pruning'. Only ONE was deemed to require no action. Thank God we are here. I can't imagine how those trees would cope without us. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Ingenious Stefan, but why couldn't that stump just stay there?
  4. Total silence for a minute here at 11. Even the dogs didn't make a sound. Respect.
  5. Violence from any quarter should be condemned. Unless someone has spilled your pint, obviously.
  6. Tried a neck tether for the first time yesterday, and didn't notice it at all throughout 4 different climbs, all takedowns on spikes. I might find it different with foot ascender and HAAS, but the fact I didn't notice it was promising. Still had it on went I walked into the pub. Another bonus was because the weather was pretty vile there was a bit of clothes changing going on, quicker and easier than a chester or sling.
  7. Do rescue climber rules still apply? That would affect the rate a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. I did a climbing survey last week, using an endoscope for Batman with a Bluetooth feed to his tablet. I really enjoyed it. RAMS had to be spot on so I had to supply a qualified rescue climber as well, who drank plenty of tea. I haven't discussed an invoice yet, it was for a groundwork company I do plenty of work for, so I'll be interested in opinions. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Needs must when the devil drives mate! I'm kind of with you on the Oreo thing John, not a massive fan. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. With you 100% there mate. I think I'd prefer 'Eton biscuits'.
  11. The prices sound tempting Simon, but if I want to drink with a load of argumentative bullshitters I just head up the local with my mates. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. They are that, picked one up from Toolstation a few weeks back. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Psychedelic! What's it like? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Politics Timon. They don't want to support ISC. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. You should have stopped for a chat mate. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. A subject myself and Mike Hill have argued about for the past 10 years Gary. I use 'argued' very loosely, as we're both in total agreement with you. Still, no need to spike that tree, although they are bastards to set a line in or climb comfortably. It can be done though, no one ever said this job was easy, Purists hate ladders, bollocks to that, they're golden on jobs like this, as one lad has already said. As long as you're stropped in you can even cut from them if you know what you're doing. WoodyPaul I kind of get where you're coming from with 8 cuts, but I guarantee that tree is bigger than it looks and you'd muller the garden. I've cut whole pollard heads off in the past on willows with mixed results. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. That's golden Mick, I'll encompass that in my xl.clientconfusingbullshit database v.2016 if you don't mind. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Spiking retained trees is illegal and still carries the death penalty.
  19. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Dave get an epicondylitis clasp asap from Boots or online. Instantly helps a fair bit. Going forward there's loads you do, you need to approach it from every angle. Physio, heat, cold, stretches, rest, cortisone jabs but most importantly changing the way you do things. Good luck. It's a bastard. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Just after customers payday. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Pretty much anything you do to a birch will damage it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Live fast, die young, stay pretty. Oh. Bugger. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Just because a single cab with integral tool boxes between the cab and the bulkhead is a better solution. It's not like I carry any crew. I have no friends. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
