  1. I have someone who wants to buy a transit load of unsplit timber off me, all my stuff is decent hardwood, im just unsure of how much to charge him? any ideas on price would be much welcome!
  2. Some photos of our first crane job the other week. Over 15tonne of chip and god knows how many loads of logs, the guys were in and out all day with the trucks and trailers. All went without any problems, mind you it a bit daunting having over 4 tonne of Macca limb dangling over your head!
  3. I have just hit 30 and been climbing for around 10 years now and still loving it, the only time I really ache is normally on a monday morning after a hard game of rugby on a saturday afternoon. We are in our first year of running the business and will be looking to employ a traniee in a couple of years, that gives me 3-4ish years to train them up and give me more time to concentrate on the survey and report side of things, I will still be looking to pit my wits on the technical and difficult climbs though!!
  4. Myself and my business partner are responsible for culling deer on several farms on exmoor, this happened months ago and has only just been released. There are also several versions of the story floating about, which I wont go into on a public forum. yes it is ashame that a large red such as this was shot, but he was out of his prime. Quite a few of his offspring over the last couple of years have been week and plagued with problems. I do not agree with the way it was done, but to keep quality of stock (currently around 3000 and rising) on the moor it will probally be for the best in the long run. On a positive note, there are a known number of younger stags about that will, if not already, be larger than this one.
  5. Currently putting the front and steel gates on ours, will be full up and ready for next year
  6. Good old St. Mawes, bet its not mindless vandalism, but blocking someones view of the bay. Will quite happly go and plant some nice conifers next time I go down there.
  7. contact gibbon (matt shute) east devon tree care, based just round the corner from bicton, ive done quite a bit of subbie work for him , great set-up and he gets lots of good jobs. East Devon Tree Surgeon and Arboricultural Consultancy
  8. I cant even get my Mrs to come and give a hand on weekend jobs, fancy a swap?
  9. hmmm, I notice Johnty's been very quiet on this thread!!!
  10. im 5ft7, 14 stone, low point of gravity, great for surfing, playing rugby, and balancing on branches
  11. This young lady describes how to make one:thumbup1: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtwlRcFZ1ws&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Girl in Underwear shoots Potato gun[/ame]
  12. Mog! At the moment we are running a peugeot boxer tipper, and a renault kangoo (bit of a french theme going on). the kangoo is great for keeping tools in and for running around quoting.
  13. those blades look blunt Glad no-one was hurt though, could of been nasty if someone was moving the shute at the time.
  14. looks like they melted a stein helmet for the top cover!
  15. common, get the pics from the cameras up.
  16. We did a favor for a mate who had just riped his kitchen out, tiles, plasterboard etc. took it to the local place we take all our waste to and family friend, £170.00 per tonne to tip plasterboard!!! its harder to dispose of than asbestos. (I know its no excuse, but)No wonder there has been a bout of stuff like this turning up on gateways etc down here.
  17. loads of cupressus macrocarpa here in North Devon, we have lots of exposed cliff top gardens and the trees seem to thrive.
  18. the cards are carried by crew and used on any incident where first aid is required. I will have to check if I can post them up here, as the rnli are quite strict on who uses published material.
  19. I have recently just completed my first aid training for the lifeboat. It was 2 courses, uk search and rescue level 3 intermediate casualty care, and Maritime and coastal agency emergency first aid cert. We get check cards that you work to and is fool proof once you have been trained to use the cards, I keep a copy in the first aid kit at work. The course itself was highly graphic and very intense (1 week, 8am to 7.30pm) and is the same level that they train 'first response' paramedic's to. It was quite surprising at how similar a lot of the injuries that can be sustaned at sea, could be put into our line of work.
  20. I wanted to get it down to a safe height that would avoid the road and lines should the tractor not be able to pull it, or the decay gave way etc. It was a busy road and I could not risk having to stop traffic for too long.
  21. yes mate, its been a godsend. was a bit of a bugger having to carry it round in the tree for a couple of days though, but the old guns look even more impressive now, just in time for the summer:lol:
  22. He has us all fooled, I just tried looking at it with the 3D specs on and its a perfect photo
  23. The Decay. I really really wanted to turn it into habitat sculpture, the owner has been battling with the council to keep the tree for 3 yrs now as his mums ashes were spread around it, so he just gave in and had a full removal. We are back there in a couple of months to plant a line of 6 beech trees on the other side of the field where they can be left forever.
