Councillor killed in fall from tree (UKPA) – 50 minutes ago A councillor for the Green Party has died after falling out of a tree, it has been disclosed. Phil Gordon, a professional tree surgeon, was working in Abbey Park, Leicester, on Tuesday when the accident happened. He was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary where he died. Mr Gordon, who represented the Green Party on Leicester City Council, was named by the authority on Wednesday. Sheila Lock, chief executive of the council, said: "We are all extremely shocked and saddened by this news, and our deepest sympathies go out to his family, his co-workers, and everyone who knew him. "Councillor Gordon was one of our first Green councillors, and along with his then co-councillor Matt Follett brought a fresh approach into the council chamber, championing the cause of recycling both in the city and in the council. "He was an arborist, and had been working alongside our trees and woodlands team for just over a year. He will be greatly missed by them." The council said a book of condolence would be opened at Leicester Town Hall. A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said it was investigating the incident.

  19. Its just nice to take a step back from it all and assess the situation sometimes. Went on a lifeboat shout before work on monday morning for someone trying to jump off the bridge, suddenly a day fighting brambles does not seem that bad. They were coxed off after a couple of hours, but I feel for someone in that frame of mind. We probally have the best job in the world, and I think people forget that sometimes.
  20. Things have been comming along since I started the thread. Ive been busy getting a website sorted on quiet days (thanks to the free website thread from Dandkgroundcare), truck has been signwritten, and am pretty much booked up for 3 1/2 weeks. Hoping to have a look at getting a small chipper around the end of april time. Thanks for all the kind words of support people, its a great boost.
  21. On the options page under general settings untick the box that says 'show page title' on the sidetab menu, insert your logo into the 'insert image' box, it takes a bit of resizing, but will work:thumbup:

  23. Agree, and even Devon County Council dont look for it now, just have to be CHAS registered. At the framework meeting a few months ago there were a few peed off people who had spent a lot of time and money becoming AAAC's just for the council work, and the council have decided that it is not a requirement:blushing:
  24. they are on the sidebar thingy, just played around with it, there was loads of templates:thumbup:
