  15. It had been pruned like that a few times (you can see the pollard heads in first photo). The customer was 'advised' by the LA, the root system has pushed the retaining wall out onto the footpath, and is lifting the pavement and road. We are re-planting a whitebeam in the front, and have already planted 2 hippos, and 2 scotts in the rear garden after removing a couple of lawsons.
  16. Had a niceish day of trying to remove a neatly pruned!!! (by an aaac) chestnut. The neighbour opposite came out after we had spent all day digging and winching to inform us that the ground level used to be at least 5ft lower before they built the houses. Needless to say the tree was never going to be winched over due to the 25-30 years of 5 foot deep surface roots it had put on, event tried a 2&3 way pully system Customer was cool about having to get a stumpgrinder in after watching us digging, winching & cursing all day:thumbup:
  17. Morning all, Anyone know of a firm I can hire a decent sized stumpy from down this way. Or if you have one is there any chance I can hire it??

    Help

just use the 'death-on-a-stick' for the larger dia bits, then use the manual loppers and a A-frame ladder to reach the rest.
