  2. looking at business names today, typed in tarka tree care to see if it was taken and got this from their website! "Tarka Tree Care are the leading experts in Tree Surgery in North Devon and the South West"

  8. I think the LA's will be looking to use smaller companies rather than the large ones, smaller firms with less overheads will be able to under-cut the larger ones. The LA have already been told to spread the work around down this way. Smaller firms will also be able to diversefy(sp) into things like garden matinence, log sales, even subbing a lot easier than larger firms.

  11. Is this not how most traniees get into tree work to begin with? If an employer can see potential for you to make them money, then yes they will provide the time, effort and money into training you. No one is just going to call you up and give you a job, get yourself out there and make yourself known. Get a CV together and send it to every company you can, with a covering letter selling yourself and what you are looking for. Give it a week or 2 then call them and ask if they have recieved it. You need to make them think that they need you, not the other way round! Good luck

  13. My van has been stuck in the village since tuesday, finally got it free this afternoon, only for my boss to tell me that there is no way of getting to the yard. He cant even get the landy out!! Another day of fishing tomorrow then. More snow forcast here for Sunday till Tuesday!

  16. Ive had about 9-10 calls for full £100 loads over the weekend which I cannot do!! Ive totally sold out already. Will be getting it sorted for next year though.
  17. Never burn your bridges! Keep in contact with people you have subbied/worked for in the past, you never know when they/you will need a hand on big jobs. I get quite a lot of work for the company I work for now just through a good rep I had as a subbie.
  18. I just find working harder keeps me from getting cold, None of this neobaselayerthremaltomfoolery! But a good pair of socks keeps the toes from going blue!

  23. My mate made the front page of the Leicester mercury for rescuing a cat up a tree, the fire service could not reach it with their ladders. Full road closure, 2 fire engines & 2 police cars!!!
  24. I would want fuel on top of that mind, bit of a trek from down here!
  25. Emergency call out = £75 Time on Site (min 1hr) = £60 Keeping the Mother in Law sweet = Priceless
