  1. Utility is usually priced per span, lots of trees bad, few trees good. Domestic is usually priced by the tree.
  2. So perhaps your question would have been better phrased, do utility boys get paid more or less?

    alder

Wot he said They used alder charcoal in the making of black powder back in the day.
  4. If his car broke down and that was all he could boost to get to work you could just give him a written warning.
  5. But if you do it by the book its not "more dangerous", the power should be off. We do cut near them but we do it with the power off, as others have said there can be a bit of a faff getting a shutdown and you might have to work to an appointed time so a little more expense for that perhaps.
  6. A couple of Google links for you INTELLI-FEED http://jsmeco.sg1005.myweb.hinet.net/pdf/WOODWARD/WW-DSS-2.pdf Shaft Speed Switches :: Electro-Sensors ESS Electronic Speed Switch - Torq Corporation
  7. The chipper world calls them stress control, probably because it sounds good and specialised but in the rest of the engineering world they are called speed switches Give it a google
  8. Then they sent him to deal with a windblown tree.
  9. You are asking about tonnage and speed but the two aren't related, tonnage (force) will be able to split larger timber. For speed what you need to look at is the flow, which gives you the cycle time. Look at the flow output on the tractor and the flow requirement of the prospect machine.
  10. Back in the day we used to make briquettes by mixing the sawdust with a binder like wallpaper paste, it was a bit messy and time consuming but back then the ethos was waste not want not. They did burn pretty good and cheaper than coal.
  11. Did you have a written contract?
  12. The first thing you need to establish is that the works were done in the back of your notification and that another contractor didn't make their own Then you need to decide what you will do if they don't pay, if you don't have a written contract you may have problems recovering any costs.
  13. Managing trees with structural problems is all well and good IF you can exclude a target. If you cant and the tree causes damage despite your measures you are well and truly in the pincers.
  14. I would look at the cooling impeller fins on the flywheel Take the pull start cover off
  15. How old (used) is the bar, are there any burrs on the top corners?
  16. Or the depth gauges are off, BUT none of that is right if the saw cuts straight on a pushing cut. Turn the bar over and see if the problem "reverses"
  17. What you are looking for is probably sheet piling Its as heavy as hell and usually installed with a machine
  18. Its LOLER inspector rather than tester and the course you need is the LOLER inspectors course. Many training providers run it, give it a google
  19. Until you remember the "is the vehicle modified in any way" part of the insurance, those slippery buggers don't need much room to wriggle out of something.
  20. You have to go at it a bit slower, I warmed some left over carbonara in mine, pastatastic
  21. I heat soup in my jetboil, works a treat on low.
  22. When you google it try spelling it JETBOIL:laugh1:
  23. Try sourcing second hand HGV trailer curtains, heavy durable and pretty cheap, colour can be a bit random though.
  24. And of course that's how it would always be used wouldn't it?????? No wait, the "rule" came into force because people were having accidents using top handled saws on the ground.
