  1. According to some bloke on the internet
  2. Just worth noting that one side is written by a journalist and the other side by some nobody on the internet
  3. Absolutely, hopefully the kids will learn that they need to wear the appropriate uniform at the appropriate time, if they progress into the services they will need to know that. Respecting the fallen is to be encouraged but they should have asked about the uniform first.
  4. That's not what you said in the first instance, drip feeding info as it suits isn't going to make a good thread, see ya.
  5. One mans banter is another mans bullying
  6. A kid I went to school with was called Alert Hall
  7. Why don't you tell us why they did it? What secrets did the top man impart on you? If they didn't do it to protect the dealer network why did they do it????
  8. Fixed that for ya
  9. That's true of a lot of things in the antipodes.
  10. Jon if you talk jibberish like you type I am surprised it only took an hour and you probably only got your name across:laugh1:
  11. So you are saying I am wrong and Jones weren't part of the pile it high sell it cheap gang????? I am aware that its a global business policy, it has to be since Stihl use the same business model worldwide but it matters not how widespread the policy is, its the dealers offering heavily discounted goods on the internet that created the situation
  12. Or worse, if he gets used to an obscenely bright car he might start craving a pfanner helmet
  13. Clearly some dealers are better than others but the poorer ones wont get any better if they don't get any trade, no incentive to improve. Now that Stihl have implemented this condition they need to make sure the dealers are providing good service In the same way that the dealers kind of had Stihl over a barrel threatening to dump a dealership Stihl have the ability to dump dealers.
  14. This posting sums it all up in a nutshell Don't feel sorry for the likes of Jonsie, he was part of the pile it high sell it cheap internet selling brigade that forced Stihl to implement this policy. Don't feel sorry for yourself either, as you say you were after a cheap deal so you are as responsible as anyone else for the change in policy. Stihls business model requires a dealer network, if the dealers cant compete they wont carry the minimum stock levels and may well jump ship altogether. You cant blame them for protecting their business.
  15. Its a de barking tool
  16. Utility is usually priced per span, lots of trees bad, few trees good. Domestic is usually priced by the tree.
  17. So perhaps your question would have been better phrased, do utility boys get paid more or less?

    alder

Wot he said They used alder charcoal in the making of black powder back in the day.
  19. If his car broke down and that was all he could boost to get to work you could just give him a written warning.
  20. But if you do it by the book its not "more dangerous", the power should be off. We do cut near them but we do it with the power off, as others have said there can be a bit of a faff getting a shutdown and you might have to work to an appointed time so a little more expense for that perhaps.
  21. A couple of Google links for you INTELLI-FEED http://jsmeco.sg1005.myweb.hinet.net/pdf/WOODWARD/WW-DSS-2.pdf Shaft Speed Switches :: Electro-Sensors ESS Electronic Speed Switch - Torq Corporation
  22. The chipper world calls them stress control, probably because it sounds good and specialised but in the rest of the engineering world they are called speed switches Give it a google
  23. Then they sent him to deal with a windblown tree.
  24. You are asking about tonnage and speed but the two aren't related, tonnage (force) will be able to split larger timber. For speed what you need to look at is the flow, which gives you the cycle time. Look at the flow output on the tractor and the flow requirement of the prospect machine.
