  1. That's confusing, restricted means UK only. You wont find an exact match in the examples, the list would need to be yards long. The principal is that a Certificate of Professional Competence is for professional drivers. If driving isn't your profession you don't need one. Anyone with vehicle under 3500kg MAM doesn't need a CPC even if the train weight is over 3500kg
  2. The requirement for driver CPC has nothing to do with the vehicles equipment. If you took the tacho out of one of Eddie Stobart's trucks the driver would still need a driver CPC
  3. There is nothing "dodgy" about welding cast but I appreciate that it may seem that way if you don't know what you are doing. I wouldn't have welded those fins back because a new rotor was (despite its cost) more economical, oh and we didn't have all the bits:laugh1: I did briefly consider machining the remains of the fins off and fitting some steel fins but again the cost difference made a new one more attractive, and Ed had his heart set on using the old one for a coffee table. Not sure how he is going to get that idea past the other half:laugh1:
  4. Have you ever tried balancing a flywheel? Its not as hard as you might think.
  5. As an operator it will depend on the class of your "O" licence. If you are on a UK restricted licence you don't need a CPC holder. If you and your drivers don't drive as a main occupation you don't need driver CPC
  6. Its 60mm most sets don't go further than 55 even in 1" drive. A standard box key is to flimsy so I made one for the job. Took half the time to make it than it would have to drive across town to pick a socket up
  7. Sorry to disappoint you guys but if you have a look at the picture you will see a big assed nut in the middle of the flywheel. What I was welding was mild steel bar to make a box key for than nut, what with not having one to hand and it being a Sunday and wanting the machine back in service on Monday and all. The flywheel was replaced and the old one is destined to be a feature coffee table. Ed, show em the picture of the box key:laugh1:
  8. That's not quite accurate. The not needing a CPC thing has nothing to do with hire or reward, if you take your truck to a job and get paid, its part of a hire or reward job so its in hire or reward whatever you do. There are 2 types of CPC in this, driver CPC you don't need because driving isn't your main job. Holding an "O" licence normally requires a CPC holder but if your licence is a UK restricted as opposed to a UK Standard national or international, you are exempt from CPC holder requirement. On a restricted licence you are restricted to own goods, the definition of this is that you cant move goods for third parties. You can move anything to do with your business activity's but not other peoples goods. So moving chip and logs is OK but to take an example, you cant deliver a generator to a site for someone else but if it were your own generator needed on the job then that would be OK. This is where the hire or reward confusion comes in, its all hire or reward but third party goods aren't allowed on a restricted "O" licence.
  9. The exemption is for people who don't drive for a living and has nothing to do with carriage of goods https://www.gov.uk/driver-cpc-exemptions-examples
  10. That's a good design A mate brought some steel and a brochure for one of those a while back This is what I made for him
  11. Once its frozen solid it should cut easy enough with a mid range saw Dice it up and chuck it in the chipper.
  12. https://www.gov.uk/driver-cpc-exemptions-examples Vehicles carrying material or equipment to be used in the course of the driver’s work You don’t need Driver CPC if you’re carrying equipment or material that you’ll use in the course of your work, provided that driving the vehicle is not the main part of your job. This includes: •trade tools •goods such as building materials or cables to be used by the driver in the course of their work •extra crew like a mechanics mate or any other person needed for the job Driver A Driver A is a mobile lorry fitter. They drive a vehicle from one operator’s site to another site where they take their tools from the vehicle to do their main activity of servicing lorries. They do not need Driver CPC. If they use engine diagnostic kit that’s fixed within the vehicle, they would also be covered by the exemption because the vehicle carries material or equipment for their use on site. Driver B Driver B is a self-employed bricklayer and drives their lorry to a building site with a load of bricks. They unload the bricks and use them in the construction of a house. They don’t need to have Driver CPC because driving the lorry is not their main activity and they’re carrying materials for their use in the course of bricklaying You can probably cite the "Driver B" example. Your main job is not driving the truck

  14. Its complete garbage, based on fragments of various research. Just another example of the internet propagating rubbish for the gullible.
  15. I asked a plasterer how practical it would be and he was appalled by the idea. Uneven ground, soft spots and a heavy(ish) machine held out at arms length is a recipe for a trip to casualty.
  16. Just build one, better that than modifying something that wont fit. Finding one that fits will be a mission

I have a ported 390 and its awesome, a ported 395 would be a lot of fun.
  20. As a breed scrotes are empty and vacuous so logically pretty buoyant but if you chip them I am guessing only the bits of lung would float and it won't take long for them to waterlog and sink
  21. Here is a thought, freeze the corpse, cut it into chip able chunks, find an isolated river bridge and chip the body direct into the water, the "chip" will thaw in no time and become fish food and whatever is left will be lost into the silt and mud:thumbup:

OMG Groundhog Day on the H v S They are all competent machines. I have used both and would base my decision on dealer locality and the standard of service provided. I'm husky, the nearest dealer is a long way away but my 2 local stihl dealers are a long way away from any good.
