  1. Granted but blue river gum, red river gum, giant redwood, costal redwood, are all imports and buddlia isn't even a tree So of 6, 5 not native and one not even a tree. The one native that you claim mediocre has flowers that support a host of insects and its berries feed the masses. Goat willow on the other hand forms a large dome blocking light to the ground and preventing nearly all growth
  2. There you go YET AGAIN with YOUR rules, you just cant leave that alone can you. Don't you see that its not a fair game if YOU make the rules? No one said anything about excluding any species, you named a bunch of non native trees but you don't see me calling you out on that do you?
  3. There you go again with the restrictions:001_rolleyes:
  4. You didn't answer it, you put in a huge caveat allowing you to name anything you wanted, before that you put restrictions on the way I could answer your question, life is good when you can make the rules to suit yourself.
  5. Classically, it grows till it either cant support itself or the inevitable decay sets in and the branch ends touch the ground where it roots in and is off again.
  6. That's no good, most wood will burn well enough after a years seasoning. even Goat Willow would be half way there.
  7. What wood is as poor for firewood? and don't name a Willow or Poplar
  8. Bark and lichens says old timber, medullary rays says Oak to me
  9. Get it clean before you weld it.
  10. Many trees are good for wildlife and many are better than Goaty. Its dreadful firewood, it will start sprouting while its in the pile and takes eons to dry out, plenty of rubbish wood is still rubbish wood.
  11. Plant it in your garden then.
  12. Goat willow, kill it now
  13. You are too young, (lucky you) vehicles used to be opposite handed.
  14. I think you mean, not conforming to industry best practice, its definitely not illegal, there would have to be a law prohibiting it for that to be the case
  15. Perhaps you should stop treading on them?
  16. Yeah, I knew they were stickers but I hadn't seen a white base colour before Still a bit concerned about the effectiveness of the hearing protection, and the price

    The Dogs!

You need to look better http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/51277-arb-dogs-who-has-one.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/lounge/157-arbdogs-pics.html
  20. The tree is a kind of retention, its getting boshed off just above that cavity as a habitat pole but its going to have to wait till the residents have moved on. Share away
  21. Hide the grub in the woods and give them a map to find it orienteering style or place the food in a place where they have to work co operatively to get at it
  22. No mate, I was in full on stealth mode and managed to sneak up on them.
  23. Pete is right, the other stuff is spurious or wrong, the bit about vehicle registration is definitely wrong, CPC is driver related and nothing to do with vehicle registration
  24. Or old, dirty and frayed arround the edges
  25. The short answer is yes, its fine as a rigging line but it has limitations. Back in the day for a loooong time it was all we had, everyone used it (or maybe a retired climbing line) It has a low melt point so its not suitable for use with modern friction devices. You can still take a wrap around a tree like we used to in the old days. I still keep a bit around for pulling trees over, its not so tragic if it gets landed on and damaged.
