  1. That kind of ends the debate then:laugh1:
  2. I can hear you just fine STOP SHOUTING Its hard enough to read when you don't
  3. Are you letting Lucas eat now? That seems extravagant. I thought he had to work to avoid the beatings:laugh1:
  4. My bad, I meant the professional aspect rather than the bug thing in general There is a fair bit of this "I don't do that" attitude in tree work and that's fine if that's your choice but many use it to claim title to the pinnacle of professionalism. Professionalism is giving the client the information to make an informed choice. It is after all their tree, a chattel to do with as they please and we are the service industry they use. I see your PDF and offer •Leave woody cuttings from trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants in piles within a shrub bed. The RSPB: Advice: Dead wood for wildlife Brush piles for better wildlife habitat Starting Out In Your Woodlands Creating a Wild Backyard - Brush Piles - Wild Acres - Wildlife and Heritage Service - Maryland Department of Natural Resources
  5. They are tolerant of all but the most brutal "pruning" Be careful getting out of your depth happens quick and it always hurts
  6. Lets assume its leylandii or similar and not forget that any active nests are protected
  7. Well let's see, it's a proven saw and didn't get withdrawn, the dealer will post it to you if needed and it's a perfectly good saw. Arguing the toss over "half a gram heavy on the back end" is a waste of time, show your talent and do the best job you can with what you have to hand.
  8. At the risk of going off topic here its only hypocrisy, IF you say you don't do it then do it. Can you explain how pruning trees when beetles are active is bad?
  9. Or you could just buy a 395:thumbup1:
  10. Good vid, very professional. I particularly enjoyed seeing the place without the lack of the trademark fragrance of "smellyrua"
  11. Nope, its an eye catcher, built to show off the owners products at shows. Its good a that job but as others have said it has no payload to speak of.
  12. Restricted does mean own goods but it also means UK only As far as CPC goes, I know.
  13. You are such a martyr.
  14. I would say start with a micro rigging kit, less to go wrong till you get used to it A sling, a steel biner, a pinto rig pulley and a bit of Sirius in 12 or 14mm and a friction device would be my choice.
  15. Sounds like your tank breather is blocked.
  16. Can you be s bit more specific? A hydraulic system is supposed to pressurise Is the leakage fluid or is it bubbles and froth
  17. Except we aren't carrying goods for sale, chip and lumps of wood aren't produce. Its waste guvenor:thumbup1: Although I do agree, just because you don't need a CPC doesn't mean you shouldn't get one.
  18. That's confusing, restricted means UK only. You wont find an exact match in the examples, the list would need to be yards long. The principal is that a Certificate of Professional Competence is for professional drivers. If driving isn't your profession you don't need one. Anyone with vehicle under 3500kg MAM doesn't need a CPC even if the train weight is over 3500kg
  19. The requirement for driver CPC has nothing to do with the vehicles equipment. If you took the tacho out of one of Eddie Stobart's trucks the driver would still need a driver CPC
  20. There is nothing "dodgy" about welding cast but I appreciate that it may seem that way if you don't know what you are doing. I wouldn't have welded those fins back because a new rotor was (despite its cost) more economical, oh and we didn't have all the bits:laugh1: I did briefly consider machining the remains of the fins off and fitting some steel fins but again the cost difference made a new one more attractive, and Ed had his heart set on using the old one for a coffee table. Not sure how he is going to get that idea past the other half:laugh1:
  21. Have you ever tried balancing a flywheel? Its not as hard as you might think.
  22. As an operator it will depend on the class of your "O" licence. If you are on a UK restricted licence you don't need a CPC holder. If you and your drivers don't drive as a main occupation you don't need driver CPC
  23. Its 60mm most sets don't go further than 55 even in 1" drive. A standard box key is to flimsy so I made one for the job. Took half the time to make it than it would have to drive across town to pick a socket up
  24. Sorry to disappoint you guys but if you have a look at the picture you will see a big assed nut in the middle of the flywheel. What I was welding was mild steel bar to make a box key for than nut, what with not having one to hand and it being a Sunday and wanting the machine back in service on Monday and all. The flywheel was replaced and the old one is destined to be a feature coffee table. Ed, show em the picture of the box key:laugh1:
