  1. See now everyone shouts VOSA but fuel usage is a tax matter and that's down to Her Majesties Customs and Excise (HMCE) I am sure VOSA were there but the fuel thing is HMCE Just saying
  2. You can "juce" the 8274 up but the stock version is just fine for me
  3. Just a thought, if you fit a winch make sure the fixings are tamper proof, I caught some scrotes looking under mine recently. They were clearly casing the job but found they were going to need half an hour with a grinder to get it off.
  4. Warn 8274
  5. Ha ha ha Its not about how much you spend, its whether you are guilty I the eyes of the law. The LA could have blown their entire annual budget on that case and the outcome would have still been the same. It shows a degree of financial wisdom that they didn't spend any more
  6. ELECTRIC Pros. Simple to fit Can be operated with remote Cons. Relatively poor endurance Weight issues with extra batteries HYDRAULIC Pros. Good endurance Can be operated with a remote Cons. More expensive than electric Not as simple to fit More weight (tank, valve, pump, pipes and fluid) Mechanical Pros. Very powerful Good endurance Cons. Cant be operated with a remote For me arb use is pulling a stem over now and again dragging the same onto trailers, winching vehicles out and suchlike. I use an electric winch for arb and its limitations don't cause any problems.
  7. TKF Chainsaw Training Courses, Tree Surgery, Pesticide Training, ELCAS Business Management Courses, throughout Yorkshire, UK and Ireland
  8. The main tool is the one that will stop them splitting radially, when you find one let me know.
  9. Freelance climber available today and tomorrow 10-11/6/14 Due to being messed about by another arbtalker who booked 2 days then disappeared:thumbdown::thumbdown: Covering North West and beyond PMs welcome
  10. Got rid of mine for a similar price a while back because it was rattling my already poorly fingers to bits. Good saw though.
  11. Yep, they brute force attacked on I owned and nearly ripped the door off in the process
  12. No, give em a knackered old one with a blunt chain. The ones that sharpen, service and work with it without moaning get a new saw of their choice and get to keep their job. :laugh1:
  13. Yell your insurer about it, any excuse to invalidate a claim.
  14. That was the way to roll until a few years ago but your advice is about a decade out of date. The powers that be are better clued up, they have revised statute legislation ANPR cameras and joint agency checks on their side. These days the fine is much and as far as "all the years" goes, you do know they can and do assess what THEY think you have used in fuel over the time THEY decide you have been using it and charge you the difference in unpaid duty. You might not go to jail but when your vehicle is on the back of a truck heading for impound while they assess what you owe how are you going to earn a living.
  15. Hmmmm IMO I would call that a rigging system. The only issue is the inspection interval, most tree surgeons conforming to LOLER will have equipment requiring a 6 month interval so just chuck it all in every 6 months
  16. Its there for a reason, if someone administers pills or potions that you put in the first aid box and the patient suffers because of it you are going to feel the consequences in the form of a prosecution from the HSE and the injured parties ambulance chaser right behind them, bend down and drop yer strides.
  17. Its part of the FAW teaching syllabus which is HSE approved
  18. Slings and chains and suchlike that would be an accessory to a crane for example.
  19. The rules are a catch all and assume that all kits are common and you cant have meds in there
  20. No pills or potions allowed in the first aid kit.
  21. Cant agree with that, hanging from a rope with an arterial bleed, the only thing to do is down, it will take a fraction of the time that arsing around with a dressing up a tree will. Get to where you can be helped, if you pass out in the tree bleeding out is a serious possibility.
  22. Wot he said, and it will hock your rope up something fierce
  23. If you don't identify the item and its date into service how will you know (in the event of an incident) prove its date into service? You are also supposed to perform a weekly check and it would need to be identified for that. All you need to make an identifier for a hitch chord it is a bit of fabric plaster and some shrink tube.
  24. Its all doable, just needs a looking at, you will need to blank off one side of the DA spool if the new loader only has single acting rams
  25. Have you got the valve that was on the new loader or are you going to run it through the valve that was on the old one?
