  1. Have you tried starting it with the fuel cap off/loose??
  2. I think you need to get somebody to look at the tree for you. Don't be afraid to seek help when you need to! If it's not going to hit anything/anyone you could leave it, if it's a risk can this be mitigated by a reduction/thin, can the target be moved or fenced off it's an imporant tree? No amount of piccies are going to help. R
  3. LA's can be very funny. They aren't afraid to threaten all unsundry with no basis whatsoever and unfortunately seem to thrive on any sign of weakness, maybe your ex boss has shrugged them off?? If it's a formal interview I'd be very careful what you said without legal representation. Doesn't sound like there's anything to worry about for you though. R
  4. If you intend to keep the machine then I'd replace the engine. Else sell it as is as you'll probably never recoup your money. Probably best on ebay as you'll probably get more money than you realise for it!! R
  5. I'll bear it in mind for you. Problem is logs often get mixed in with the chip on smaller jobs, and on bigger jobs I can sell the logs always good to have another tip site in reserve though!!
  6. I've got a total fuel card, good for motorway services as you pay there set fee that they text you each week instead of pump price. You can normally find it slightly cheaper at the supermarket though. R
  7. Yer had that doing M5/m6 this afternoon still all fun and games! I love the way that halfords sell concentrated screenwash, but recommend double concentrate for extreme weather!! I'm like a little kit at the moment packing the important stuff - sledges:thumbup: - we'll survive without the rest of the stuff!!
  8. Sounds like we may have timed it right for a change, loads of snow for skiing, boarding and sledging but not to much that we can't get about like a couple of days last year. Cheers for the info guys much appreciated. R
  9. Sounds like a bargain to me I'd snap his hand off!!!
  10. Cheers, picked up the minibus today. Checked to see if the snowhchains would fit:thumbup: The screenwash bottle was frozen so thats been thawed and changed. No matter what you do it always seems to freeze, so I carry a washing up bottle of screenwash I can spray out of the window onto the screen, crude but effective:001_tt2: R
  11. Heading upto grantown on spey from Chester for new year tomorrow. Any of you up that way know what the road conditions are like. Just wondering what kind of a drive we're in for. Cheers R
  12. I cut them up and chuck them in the back of the truck and dump them at the greenwaste disposal site. They did mention they were a nightmare the other day though......
  13. You should get a 2001/2 type transit for that money without any probs. You'll get more for your money with an LDV but it'l probably be falling apart a bit more than a transit...... No exerience of other flatbeds/tippers I'm afraid. R
  14. Yer but how much productive work will actually get done tomorrow is the big question?
  15. I'd keep it for that one job for what it'll be worth secondhand, and buy the new bar anyway. Always useful to have a spare bar and chain. R
  16. Gona go and see if there's any bargains, in my experience of auctions stuff either goes very cheap or for mega money.
  17. Just been to pick up my groundy for today and can't get an answer:sneaky2: Got a day for a labourer dragging brash and doing some cutting/lowering if you can. Going to the job now so on the off chance ring/txt me on 07799444848 Regards Rob
  18. Surely if you go to bed clothed you don't feel the benefit when you get dressed, same in a sleeping bag when camping, why sleep fully clothed? R
  19. Not always the case, on some setups it uses the lights to trickle charge it. Not the best way admittedly but I think the problem would have arisen sooner if the battery's a year old??
  20. I thought about it when I had a run clients owing for a long time but decided against it. The costs are stupid. You'd be better off not using certain clients if there payment terms are no good to you. Margins are tight enough without losing 10percent of the job, so prob 20-30 percent of the profit on it. My FA reckons their used a lot by people to keep themselves out of liquidation if they suddenly experience a big dip, or big increase in work. As someone else has said theres cheaper ways to borrow the money, but it depends on your situation. I'd get some advice from an FA or an accountant that you trust before comitting to anything. R
  21. Definitely and it's a tool to be used wisely I've just joined the FSB and although my accountant is good you can't beat independent financial advice:thumbup:
  22. Sounds fair enough to me. My mortgages are currently paid by tenants - thats the way I like it to be, cos it hurts when their not!!!
  23. Because they may owe the money elsewhere Jo bloggs 1 20k plant owned 80k mortgage 80k owed total Jo bloggs 2 20k plant on loan 60k mortgage 80k owed total Depending on how stuff is financed either of them could be better off, ie lower interest rate on mortgage or paying no tax on the interest of the loaned plant etc
  24. We've just renewed a few grounds maintenance contracts and we were told it would be an automatic renewal if we sucked up the 2.5% rise. Otherwise we'd have to tender. As a business decision I decided to accept the slight loss to myself to guarantee myself a certain amount of work. R
