  1. Shortage of good, hardworking, allround climbers imo Plenty of ticketed excuse makers
  2. Yeah the uk groups seem to be so, these are like the equivilant of the AA or ISA national groups and generally stay on topic....until an Englishman comments:001_rolleyes:
  3. I tried to get some English guys over, but accommodation was my biggest hurdle. As for employing foreign arborists, most countries have a national arborist group/council on Facebook. Would be worth a shot. I know the Nordic countries groups
  4. Eco plugs are very "clean" to use. No innocent looking fairy liquid bottles with deadly poison in, for example I use eco plugs on stumps. very effective, even at lower quantities than recommended. the correct drill bit with the depth thing is a must imo
  5. A mate once asked me to see what the problem was with with his discovery, the rear suspension was really bouncy, he thought it might be something to do with the shock absorbers......took a look, yep defiantly a shock problem-there wasn't one! Must have rusted/fallen off!
  6. I brought a hilux due to its reputation last year. (3.0 auto) I wanted a work vehicle that doubles as a family car. Tools and smelly stuff separate. Ability to tow, meaning 4x4 necessary (4-5months of snow and ice here=4x4 if heavy towing) One thing to consider is if going from a van to a 4x4, is the lack of space you're going to have.
  7. An EU VAT number thing. So i can type my VAT number in and pay the pre VAT price. A few other companies do this.
  8. I repaired a neighbors muccolloch, noticed it had Husqvarna stamps on many of the parts. But, for example, noticed the muc had a (Husqvarna stamped) 2 piece clutch, rather than 3 piece I'm used to seeing on pro grade saws. Husky 562 with 18 and 25" bar would be my choice btw
  9. The numbers is to hold it in gear for engine braking on decents or stop it changing up when climbing hills when towing For example 2L being the Lowest

    New Tipper

Nice truck donnk, what's your work? I bet you wish you'd never started this thread
  11. Very realistic, will be well out the way though. A quick look shows 250 farms and houses for sale under 30k, 25 farms under 30k. 1 farm for 12k with 3.5ha land. A guy i worked with a bit, got given a cabin on the norwegian border for free! His then girlfriends dad wanted to sell it as never used it, estate agent wasn't interested as it was "worthless" so he gave it to the guy if he promised to make use of it! Wheres your forest Stefan?
  12. Something to do with the oldies license rights perhaps? where you can drive upto 7.5t vehicle and tow upto 3.5t trailer but combined can't be more than 8250. 6.5t truck would give 1.75t trailer allowance
  13. I looked at the 7.5ton Isuzu at the APF, had a steel brittip body on (not high arb sides) 3.7ton payload As per page 12-13 Isuzu Heavyweights Brochure 30k plus vat iirc.
  14. Great day! Up before dawn, felled 4 trees in a churchyard with a crane, 1 piece, 5 pieces, 4 pieces and 3 pieces, done in 3 hours with coffee break or two. quick bonus job, picked up supplies, washed the truck, home to collect fishing gear, then the garage for some hotdogs, picked up my boy a hour early from nursery, went fishing and had the hotdogs for dinner at the lake
  15. I found them to be borderline too tight at first, but quickly loosened up, even needing a belt
  16. Do they come with rear diff lock as standard in the uk too?
  17. I think it's dead cool, but I can imagine I'd wake up in the mourning, my missus would come home after doing the graveyard shift, and say she wouldn't be seen dead in that
  18. Looking for a capable climber for the 2nd and 3rd week in October to help out a 1 man band. Working area northern Stockholm, Uppsala and Norrtälje. Normally 4 companies hire in one-another as and when extra climbers are needed, just now we all want each other hence the need for extra help. You may be hired out to one of these other companies. Basic accommodation provided (unlikely to be in a town or city I'm afraid, but direct buss service to Uppsala, and possibility of seeing the northern lights/moose in the area if the planned accommodation is still available). Must have basic relevant qualifications under 5 years old. Driving licence desirable, as is heavy trailer. If all goes well, could lead to regular short or long stints, plus company vehicle. Payment preferably as a UK subby (Provided Brexit hasn't affected the rules yet!) or on the books, tax paid in Sweden. Wage dependant on ability. Preference given to those who can send a professional email to [email protected] Thanks!
  19. I've a 3.0 auto, done 25k in a year, get a steady 28mpg mixed driving and towing my big ifor tipper with wood/avant/chipper about 20% the time. No complaints although I do think a chip would reallyrelease the engines potential. I got used to the auto after the first week (my first auto) and it's a pleasure to drive.
  20. My mistake, sat in Toyota now for a service, 3500 for single and extra cabs produced after oct 2016 Sorry for the derail
  21. . The new HiLux due by the end of the year will have 3500kg towing capacity I believe. They have had the higher limits abroad but apparently it was Toyota UK who were not prepared to warrant the higher limit. Things have obviously changed. Its only 3200 here in Sweden to, pretty daft imo
