  1. Yep..Pfanner What has been read, can not be unread ...shreddies!!! lol I just hope the trousers don't shrink in the wash! It will be like wearing a pair jeggings (not that I've ever worn them!) I'll wear the trousers around the house today and see how I get one with them. J.
  2. Hi all, My Vent Type A trousers have finally arrived I'm not one to boast, but does anyone else find them a bit tight around the family jewels? They fit fine everywhere else, but are a bit snug around the undercarriage. J.
  3. Well some feed back... As my issue seemed to be lack of pressure of the ear defenders onto my head, I looked in to whether I could easily increase the spring pressure. One thing I noticed while testing, was the grey arms that hold the ear defenders/cups onto the helmet flexed a lot when they had spring pressure applied. The arms themselves are hollow (I assume to save weight/cost). So I decided to see about stiffening them up, I filled the hollows with glue and let set for a for days. I'm happy to say the extra stiffness has helped, the ear defenders sit better/more firmly against my head and the effectiveness of the ear defenders has increased J.
  4. Hi there, Do you mean where the ear defenders (cups) fit into the plastic arms? If so, the cups should only be removable when at 90degrees to the arms, and the arms needs to be slightly splayed too. Mine are fine. As said above, speak to the supplier for a warranty replacement. J.
  5. That's the going rate where he is. He lives in Canada near a saw mill J.

    3 phase

Hi there, It looks like you have/had 3 phase into the premises, the service head/fuse is 3 phase (black block on top pic has three fuses), but everything after that is single phase. What you cant gauge is whether the DNO installation is still suitable/safe. There will be two elements to this: DNO costs (to provide/enable 3phase into your premises) Sparky costs (to deliver the 3phase from the DNO equipment to your equipment, distribution board, earthing, cabling, machine connection costs, etc). If you are sure you will only need one machine (and it's power rating is suitable), then it might be cheaper to go the invertor route. Or depending on the machine, change it to single phase. J.
  7. Crappy computers... https://www.dropbox.com/s/eviaqf6bxifizk0/Andy%20firewood.jpg?dl=0
  8. Hi guys, It is untreated (completely natural). It is not mine, is it my brother-in-laws. His firewood for winter... Believe it or not, that load cost him 12 quid J.
  9. How about this for nice fire wood, none of that nasty bark stuff Just needs chopping up https://www.dropbox.com/s/ye4llv3pr5fio66/2016-08-19%2015.01.54.jpg?dl=0 J.
  10. Hi there, I knew the SNR rating was lower before I bought them (the issue is not the SNR), I have other EDs with the same rating and they are fine (I'm happy with that level of rating for sawing). Trying on the helmet briefly before I bought the helmet it seemed fine, great fit on my head, the EDs seemed ok. It is only now that I use the helmet for 6 hours or so with saws and cutters that I have noticed they aren't sealing as well as they could be. My other EDs (of the same SNR) cut out a lot more sound. By simply applying a little more pressure to the Protos ones I can make them match my other EDs. I'm hoping to get to APF, but not sure of my schedule/commitments at the mo. I'll speak to Yvonne@Clark's (Pfanner Distie) and see if she knows anything - She has been a great help with my other gear J.
  11. Hi there, I'll have a look to see if there is anything I can do to increase the spring pressure - watch this space J.
  12. Evening... Well I finally used my Protos helmet in anger and I'm a little disappointed with one thing (But overall it is a great helmet, light, not too hot, nice fit, great visor, etc) But the ear defenders!!! Yes I saw all the reviews about them and their lower rating compared to others (most). I have some others which are the same rating. I have them adjusted to the maximum pressure, but they still aren't that tight on my head. I did try the helmet before I bought (and used) it, and they seemed fine, but when using with machinery you can hear/tell they just aren't tight enough. If I gently touch/press them with my finger tip, then they seal a lot better and the sound level drops nicely. Anyone got any suggestions (apart from get a fatter/wider head or use ear plugs)? J.
  13. Very true.... They are a tool to do a job - rest assured, they'll get used and abused J.
  14. Me again I am slightly worried that they aren't oil repellent (according to the posts on this thread). Don't ask why but I did some work today in ordinary cotton work trousers, at the end of the day I was covered in oil patches Now I am wondering if I should have gone for the Pfanner Arborist trousers or the SIP trousers instead of the Ventilators (which are listed as oil repellent)? J.
