  2. Hi dean, whats the 130 like for day to day driving?

  3. ill come cut youre grass with it then, and plough you a field in the process:001_tongue:
  4. Hell no! per cutter of course
  5. used a prussik for the first time in about 2 years on wednesday-because i couldnt be bothered to put bu HC on my shortline for a row of small lime re-pollards it was horrible! so much effort climbing even the shortest distance compared to a HC prussik kept slipping-couldnt trust it to hold me nice and firm like the HC does doesnt decend as smoothly had to let go of the saw to pull the slack through-found it fustrating! also with the HC or a VT the tail of the rope is out of the way-right down by the harness. but with the prussik the tail of the line is 40-50cm away from you, sticking out making more clutter, and getting in the way perservered with one tree then promptly got the HC back on! Ahhh much better
  6. 2 new files per 30" 660 chain on average-easier and quicker to sharpen then!
  7. that method doesnt work at-all, there was a device made some years ago designed with this concept in mind, it was a flop. much better idea would be a tifor, or simmilar hand winch-cheaper, more versitile, can use it for front or rear recovery, and gives you a work out too
  8. haha, yeah, whilst driving up 'the lions back' (a grade 5/5 near vertical climb blah blah) i was thinking 'my old series 2A would make this no sweat'
  9. who on here's a biker?? and what you got Husqvarna SM510R supermoto race built bike with a numberplate, very fast, very loud, and will corner faster than any sports bike:001_cool: (yes i do actually own a husqvarna:ohmy:) And Triumph Speed four 600
  10. its slightly bigger brother-7'1/2inch
  11. Hummer, had a drive in one in the Moab desert in Utah, amazing vehicle, the amount of engeneering, and gizmos that aid its offroad performance is amazing
  12. i like how larch at this time of year turn from their winter brown-ness, to lime green
  13. its the same as the old ad, just with bits deleted-font and colours all the same, wording too. 6k would be a steal
  14. free bed and food too??
  15. Nice one peter, will ask for you at work if youd like. if you fancy a pint sometime, give us a shout-im only at waterbeach, near steve if you need a wood yard, ive got half a dozen or so places you can dump it local to us
  16. ill be there will it be an event where people who havnt any understanding of Arb enjoy??
  17. went from prussik when i started which was all i knew-thrusting and pushing, lots of effort, need two hands to pull the slack through, or 1 hand plus teeth then blakes hitch, seemed a nicer knot to use than the prussik, had the same as above, although bu re-tying you can have the friction area close to you-handy when branch walking, or far away-handy for thrusting up/footlocking up then saw the light, and went for a VT (pully variation of friction knot) which was FANTASTIC in comparison-no more thrusting, much more fluid movements, climbing quicker, self tends(pulls through the slack on its own) with enough rope below, slack can be pulled through single handedly, never looked back. just brought a hitch climber at the start of the week, with the proper caribinas, and its even better than the previous system! used a prussik a few times since seeing the light, and boy its horrid! slow, tight, yuk! alot of the older climbers who have never used a pully system, will slate it, saying about over complicating things with new fangled complex wizzadary, but if you can pursuade them to give it a go, they will, without fail, eat humble pie!
  18. bugger welcome to the forum any serial numbers?
  19. chew some barley:001_smile:
  20. out of curiousity, what would the difference be of using an 8mm instead of a 10mm on 13mm rope?
  21. been using VT with the marlow boa cord, dont really like it-needs to be reminded to grip. found like you it does self tend, but gets too loose-not good if were to suddenly fall! 2 new DMM ultra O binas, hitch climber and OP cord has arrived today, just had a quick play tonight, same hitch knot, and seems miles better than the Marlow boa
  22. i know that strictly speaking, any un-nessary damage to the tree is wrong, but i personally dont see any problem with what oogzy's done-its a healthy looking mature oak, the tree house hes told us is free standing, 2 coach screws-it will survive! its just part of the trees history, like initials being carved into the trunk, or the patter of todlers around the root zone of a play ground tree . . oh wait, that was banned! strimmers, grass cutters smashing exposed roots, un-maintained tree gaurds/ties ect all do more damage than this. id hope that common sence on the Tree officers half over rides the protocol of his job and oogzys family are allowed to continue enjoying this magnificent tree
