  1. we now get the customer to sign our worksheet for three things-that the jobs done to spec, all cleared up nicely and no breakages/damages as a little something to fall back on
  2. Supermoto for me looking at getting a crosser, my bro in law races suzukis, what you got?
  3. they respond well to pruning/topping/pollarding as in they dont die, lots of shoots though which will be a pain in future. prune to ground level
  4. sounds good, no bloody prices though, but they do serve 'a hearty breakfast' better than travel lodge crud i bet. is there an onsite bar to mingle??
  5. haha your on! best be getting the saddles ready . . . seriously tho whats the deal with camping? is it a goer? or whats the best options for travel lodges ect?
  6. interesting, along the grafting lines heres a graft from a bit of woodland at this weeks job several of them, all at different heights, some sort of Ash, but none of the common varietys, trees varied 40-60feet tall p.s, Dean, its a rough barked ash with a smooth bark plonked ontop
  7. cool, will be able to make this one-couldnt make capel as was in leeds:blink: will second Steves offer of a lift if needed as will be going past stansted
  8. are arbtalkers gonna invade a travel lodge or simmilar?
  9. hope you charged deans 'no cup of tea tax' ontop of the above normal rate i hope you charged for the extras!
  10. he might have a chance of understanding us lot . . .
  11. bearing in mind x-mas trees are a sod to chip with a small chipper anyway, its doing alright-just needs the stress relief on the engine sorted out-dropping too many revs before the rollers stop imo. what size chipper is it?
  12. only half hour from me. like the place. used to live with a bloke from thrapston near kettering, 88man on here is from there too, he may be usefull for dropping wood off. which reminds me, got a job there soon, and need a wood dump!
  13. what will its focus be? will it be like the AA or actually focus on standard /quality of work produced? will it be for individuals or companys? (i like the idea of individuals, as an approved company needs to only have one decent climber for the whole company to be approved including dangerous dave and stupid simon)
  14. how far you willing to travel/pay haulage?
  15. mine was whenever i wanted it! was able to pick the day and even the time! (gloat boast gloat)
  16. hmmmm. personally i hate working with another climber. prob something to do with the legendary climbers ego, but also differing standards-i.e mine have been higher. would rather have an extra groundie so i dont have to do anything when i get down, rather than shell out for another climber as for having a fully loaded speedline with 10 slings on, i would imagine youre groundies were working overtime clearing, cutting chipping all that whilst you two sat up there with no spare slings to be getting on with attatching??? would rather have a constant rythem, send two or three bits down, as soon as the lines being lowered, use the other slings to attatch the next branches whilst the lines being untied/sent back up to you by one groundie, with the other dealing with the branches-that way everyones got a constant, methodical job to do-1 lowering, one dealing with brash and the climber cutting work in harmony with eachother!
  17. used to work with 7 quads-all semi-auto hondas, two 450 and 5 green 550s with winches, brilliant machines. all road reg'd and on dual fuel-gave a couple of running problems on a few of the bikes, but nothing major got abused but never broke-riding into dykes was a gegular occourance-winch out, drain air box, drive back to yard, and change milky oil! personally, wouldnt want anything under 450 or over 600
  18. Hop-hornbeam? would imagine so as in same family as hazels, hornbeams and alder. try it and find out!
  19. hey peter, if you ever get any decent amount of cedar wood in that lorry of yours, ive got a fellar wanting to pay :)

  20. wow, thats awesome mate, some fantastic looking scenery and trees
  21. still fell into a rotten stump though . . .
  22. i like the principle of whats been done there, especially comparing it to youre other work david-fracture pruning, where youre trying to mimic natures decay to create habitat whilst retaining the tree through reduction, this IS natures decay/demise of a tree, retaining itself, keeping and creating habitat, the trees still doing its thing, abeit a bit more horizontal, which will in time look far more natural than say a coronet cutted tree. it may well look at the moment like a windblown tree that needs clearing up, but in the far future, its going to be a point of intrest and far better than 'eco piles' or logs left as habitat-which in that setting would look like a pile o tat
