  1. they were mentioned on here a few months back, maybe last year, think we were all impressed at their offroad ability, but they were bloody expensive!
  2. Dinner??? That size??? Brekkie more like
  3. fair enough regarding the known intelegence vs ability statement, but just because someone cant read aswell as their peers, doesnt nessaraily mean theyre thick, maybe it was the way they were taught? (the way that everyone else understands, perhaps that just doesnt work for some as well as others) after all, i was able to learn far more out of school, learning through doing. some people just have different abilitys in diffrent areas, if someones falling behind, its up to the tutors/parents to realise that their child aint thick, just need a little extra help rather than being labled thick like you and huck appear to be doing. its not being pollitically correct giving them extra help, its being a good teacher by not giving up on those below average fair enough, some people use being labled dyslexic as an excuse, just like overweight people use being overweight as an excuse not to walk 5 min to the shops, even though theyre tottaly capable having a student in a class labled as dyslexic is not an excuse for the teacher or student to accept the fact that they may be below average, it should be a bloody great big flashing sign to the tutor that this person may need extra/re-explained help due to a recognised learning problem
  4. what a load of bull-white of course theres diffrent strands/severitys of dyslexia, aswell as diffrent subtypes, just like other learning disabilitys such as autism, or any disability for that matter some people may only struggle with simple things such as getting A's and E's mixed up, letters the wrong way round (b and d or d and b) where as others such as your self struggle to get their head round reading and writing at-all "2008 S Heim et al. in a paper "Cognitive subtypes of dyslexia" describe how they compared different sub-groups of dyslexics in comparison with a control group. This is one of the first studies not to just compare dyslexics with a non dyslexic control, but to go further and compared the different cognitive sub groups with a non dyslexic control group." Dyslexia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia whered you get all that about the reading/intelegence IQ? the ability of reading is only a fraction of what dyslexia consists of, a fracton that can vary in ranges from person to person
  5. Ha, just learning off you!

  6. if only you knew mick! just home from a lads weekend away, so too many!
  7. john smiths, jack daniels
  8. but arboriculture is a long term career, joes starting at the bottem, and enjoying himself whilst at college, if everyone jumped into the harness straight out of college earning £150, this industry would be even more saturated with climbers. look at his self funding another way, if i were to have a choice between him and another, non self funded trainee climber, both skills exactly the same, which candiate shows the most dedication? im guessing joes 17 if hes been working for 2yrs since 15? so im also guessing hes living at home, no bills, maybe no car either, so 45pd, or 225pw when not at college is a fair old wad to him, correct me if im wrong big man!
  9. my opinion is as long as youre happy with what youre getting, thats the correct wage, deserved or not, we all think we're worth more than we get in this industry for what we do, but in reality its obviously not the case to many people in the arb game our industry isnt work, its a lifestyle choice reality check, theres hundreds of lads for firms to choose from in exactly the same position as you, youve heard from some on here already, earning £45 per day-theyre youre competition get youre self with someone who may pay peanuts, but will give you experience once up to scratch, thats when Arb work starts to become rewarding financially if youre good, you MAY take 6months to be competant enough to earn £80 pd AS A CLIMBER (remember youre boss may be paying a groundie a one-er, but the groundie isnt slowing the jobs up farting about in the tree learning), it may take you 4 years to be good enough to earn £80
  10. ditto that, just ask klaymeb/jen about one dark morning, mistaken identity and a dirty old man . . . ive worked with 3, one groundie, one traniee climber, and one 'experienced' climber and as said its down to the individual not the sex, although the 'experienced' climber had a serious attitude problem revolving around the male dominance in arb which was a shame
  11. ahh i see, trucks like ours then??? driving through hedges has its benifits on old trucks-scratches the rust off :)

  12. cabstar-single rear wheel sways like a boat when fully loaded above 45, dual rear wheel handles weight much better, both have tonns of power-good for towing 1tonn plus Canter a much bigger vehicle all over, more load space, more room in cab, only used one when working in ireland for a fortnight both have the tip foward cab to acces the engine out of the two? canter if transit was in the equation, thatd win my vote, more so as the parts are far more common 2nd hand even new (and cheaper)
  13. haha it was you then! no need to mount the pavement though, im not that much of a road hog!

  14. ahh bishops finger, mines bombardier at the moment, or adnams broadside if on tap, feel like a drop now, guess will have to make do with london pride
  15. why not book a pitch at one of the camp sites, rupes one has all facilitys, add a few disposable barbies, a crate of beer, and away we go!
  16. diddnt like it too shakey, if i wernt an arb, id struggle to work out what was happening in each mini clip before the next one, a nice slow slide show with a simple explination of each pic would be better imo 1 before, 3-5during and 1 after shot would do imo
  17. more than that! 6 pints atleast (shandys) dont think you should be allowed to drink 3 pints again peter, have a nice nap?
  18. not long atall!! got offered a room at theos place if cant find anywhere before then, hope he remembers!. but knowing me i'll get disgracefully drunk and sleep in the carpark, wake up to the smell of hot dohnuts and burgers, and go off to rant about the AA
  19. free climb, one end, split tail, but always have a short 20m line if needs be put a poll up nuggsy
  20. ah ok, calm down i just diddnt find that clear!
  21. so let me get this right, you have 5 climbers on every job? plus groundies, so 1 per climber=10 people on site? are they split into teams on that job? what sort of work are you doing to be able to find that cost effective?
  22. imo its jumping through hoops having ticketed groundies, then if youre the one climbing, normally youre going to be the best climber on the team/company, how many have got groundies capable of climbing large trees, then possibly having to do a long limb-walk to get to the casualty, then being able to deal with the casualty at the end of the limb, posibly unconsious and being able to get them to the ground safely?? in the real world, its just not practicable
  23. ive got some, approx 4-5ft dia though, greenish. would have to check length though
