  1. i think they weigh around 1100kg? possibly more? feel heavy, god theyre heavy, especially for only a 6inch machine. did like the option to adjust the roller speed on them. used the turntable maybe 1 in 50 jobs, but only a a luxuary really. used one alongside a timberwolf 150 for 5-6months, and given the choice i would always prefer the timberwolf, T/W threw the chip further by about 2-3M, lighter, easier to manhandle, changing the blades is simpler, as on the jbm, you have to re-set them each time as the blade gets shorter with each sharpen. seem to remember dealer back-up wasnt 100% either. tbh i wouldnt pay 5k for the one on e-arb
  2. 5840, but, wont youre son/daughter/missus be nearest to you at 10pm???
  3. prob why americans are so LOUD!
  4. lol, fair sized lumps of timber on that lorry. talking of fair sized lumps, when that video ended, it came up with 'worlds biggest boobs'
  5. you can bypass the voltage regulator by running a wire from the positive (i think) on the alternator to the battery as a quick fix
  6. why go for something you wont enjoy? i know too many people who are depressed about their job, are now stuck with it, so get more depressed but think 'oh well, atleast its a secure income' so dont change, then the circle continues. my answer, dont! youre missus should be happy to help pay the bills for the sake of youre happiness. if you were to go for the line clearance job, that you wont enjoy, then loose youre contacts, its going to be alot harder to be able to change back. stick with what you enjoy, the only risk i would take is to better youre happiness, not lower it
  7. take up the dealers offer and have them repaired then, simples!
  8. cheers matty and cts, i dont pay much attention to new stuff on display, as it doesnt show you how well they last-unlike treedivers post/picture which impressed me. mine are totally shagged-stitchings comming apart, burst out where they flex when you walk, hey ho, served me well!
  9. whats the new ones cts? look like theyve lasted tree diver really well, wonder if theyre still going strong? (noticed this is an old thread!) how much are they?
  10. heres mine, a 1972 S11A landy on a 78 plate as was ex navy cracking motor
  11. sorry mate, i assumed that as it was being towed behind a transit chip truck, and it being a chipper, that you would be chipping into the chip truck tad confusing, as on ebay its '. . . fantastic machine' and 'that can be operated by any numpty/idiot /brash rat' good luck with the sale, although imo it'd be an expensive cup of tea
  12. hahahaha, that is quality! still laughing at it!
  13. he must have a hard time actually getting chip into the truck!

  15. did you register the ex army lorry as an agri vehicle? how do you go about it? anyone else have experience of this, and running ag registered vehicles on the road? is there an agri/forestry catorgrey? what hoops do you have to jump through to get this? one of my farmer mates reckons you can only drive 10 miles away from youre yard on ag registered vehicles, and between youre land, but ive also read on here that its a 100km radius? also heard of ag registered with extended road use, can anyone explain? ive been on dvla, and emailed them last week regarding regestring an ex military vehicle for civillian use, but more specifically for ag/forestry work but waiting to hear back from them thanks
  16. i have, cheers. diddnt realise there were air filter upgrades, why manufacture the saws with substandard parts as standard?? 046, ms660 and ms880 will all be getting upgraded
  17. reputation, word of mouth, more money than sence. weve recently done work in central london because of reputation/word of mouth, inc one day, 2 men deadwooding a 30ft acacia, and felling 2 6inch dia pines + extra traveling costs. made about a wheel barrow of chipping! ive dismantled a eucalyptus in devon-a mighty high price as 2 days was travelling!
  18. of course, well, his groundy/mate/lover/monkey/car/washingline did
  19. overwhelmed by the helpfullness of these messages youre right bob, it is a good job i dont work for you, otherwise youre LA tree gang would run out of you're years work by the end of next week i dont see the problem, the metal dosent even begin to blue if you take youre time, unless im in a rush, then i'll force them on the wheel so hard that the grinder stops, the spikes glow red and i have to wear welding gauntlets as the heat is transfered all the way up:sneaky2:
  20. wack them on the bench grinder following roughly whatever profile theyve allready got, works for me!
