  1. ill be there will it be an event where people who havnt any understanding of Arb enjoy??
  2. went from prussik when i started which was all i knew-thrusting and pushing, lots of effort, need two hands to pull the slack through, or 1 hand plus teeth then blakes hitch, seemed a nicer knot to use than the prussik, had the same as above, although bu re-tying you can have the friction area close to you-handy when branch walking, or far away-handy for thrusting up/footlocking up then saw the light, and went for a VT (pully variation of friction knot) which was FANTASTIC in comparison-no more thrusting, much more fluid movements, climbing quicker, self tends(pulls through the slack on its own) with enough rope below, slack can be pulled through single handedly, never looked back. just brought a hitch climber at the start of the week, with the proper caribinas, and its even better than the previous system! used a prussik a few times since seeing the light, and boy its horrid! slow, tight, yuk! alot of the older climbers who have never used a pully system, will slate it, saying about over complicating things with new fangled complex wizzadary, but if you can pursuade them to give it a go, they will, without fail, eat humble pie!
  3. bugger welcome to the forum any serial numbers?
  4. chew some barley:001_smile:
  5. out of curiousity, what would the difference be of using an 8mm instead of a 10mm on 13mm rope?
  6. been using VT with the marlow boa cord, dont really like it-needs to be reminded to grip. found like you it does self tend, but gets too loose-not good if were to suddenly fall! 2 new DMM ultra O binas, hitch climber and OP cord has arrived today, just had a quick play tonight, same hitch knot, and seems miles better than the Marlow boa
  7. i know that strictly speaking, any un-nessary damage to the tree is wrong, but i personally dont see any problem with what oogzy's done-its a healthy looking mature oak, the tree house hes told us is free standing, 2 coach screws-it will survive! its just part of the trees history, like initials being carved into the trunk, or the patter of todlers around the root zone of a play ground tree . . oh wait, that was banned! strimmers, grass cutters smashing exposed roots, un-maintained tree gaurds/ties ect all do more damage than this. id hope that common sence on the Tree officers half over rides the protocol of his job and oogzys family are allowed to continue enjoying this magnificent tree
  8. remember the basics too - have a portfolio of work there, but with simple explinations of the pics/what has been done-before and after of making garden trees smaller to allow 10 seconds more daylight in summer/better sky reception ect
  9. id love to see it work, how about putting up on here dates and locations of where youre going to be working??
  10. whatd you do in the afternoon then stevie??
  11. because then you get to re-reduce/fell it a few years later and get paid again why not fell?? well people like having established trees in their garden, just a bit smaller:001_smile: 20 % red, crown clean, £130

  16. ok, im treating myself to the whole set-up from tree-worker about time i moved on from a VT! also ordering new hitch cord, going for ocean polyester for my yale scorch (aprox 13mm) do i want 8mm or 10mm?? (slight de-rail, but some wheels still on track!)
