You could just sub it out to some auld wood cutters , we do still exist. They call us forestry contractors and are used to cutting specs. Save the headache. .Best bet is to get the specs from the mill or merchant the timber is going to. All the best . Kype. -
Offer to make them two benches made from your own Elm board stock or one from there own log + £ . Wee bit more cash £££ to them may help , to secure the log. They cant see the true value of the timber + history. City garden groups always the same, nightmare to deal with!!. Good luck.

We have a Palax TSVE processor that will be for sale at the end of January . Bought used from Caledonian Forestry in November 2007 as a spare machine. Stored under cover in a shed and has only been used on about 3 ton of softwood as a test of machine after purchase. Fitted with a new tipped blade,spare plate blade and operators books. Pto driven.
