  1. Had this conversation with Esse design engineer on our Esse range cooker. We where guinea pigs and told the stove would burn any hardwood or softwood. After 3 months on softwood stove completely coked up with tar and design engineer called in to verify what went wrong. Totally decoked and new test on softwood max 20% MC after 3 months stove stripped no tarring whatsoever only a fine dusting of grey ash. Esse now specify in their handbook logs must be maximum of 20% moisture content.
  2. not progressed past one finger on the right hand yet
  3. Was after a MB Trac with buy it now of 4k. Offered to buy but only on inspection of it up and running. Suddenly advert has been pulled off the bay.
  4. Maybe a bit beyond the 15k price range Holder: Mowing and suction
  5. WeeDee Good luck with the Masters I know its a lot of work but worth it in the end. Other half got hers last year but the process drove me up the wall so if you have another half spare a thought for them.
  6. My wife is a specialist teacher in diagnosis and support of all learning difficulties and currently works in 4 schools as a specialist after her Specialist Support service was disbanded last year by the local authority.
  7. I dont know if that is right but Lignum Vitae is normally sold by weight but that might be a historic exception.
  8. Dont know if its any help but I normally hire out my MB Trac with 9T Kesla forwarding trailer with operator at £250 per day + fuel +vat. Obviously if need to transport to site then that would be extra.
  9. I bet you say that to all the girls.
  10. Have a look at the australian solar tunnel dryers. they stack there timber in a pile then the tunnel is on a track and pulls over the pile. The pile thats dried is then moved into storage by forklift. Gets over the problem of using a forklift inside the tunnel.
  11. Could it be that they can see your logs are wet therefore going to a supplier with dry logs.
  12. Can you not get a Mac version of your CAD programme. MAC's have always been the computer of choice for CAD and Publishing.
  13. I hear Glen Farrow do them http://glenfarrowbiomassboilers.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/GF-biomass-boiler-Beaverwood-Products-case-study-05-01-2012.pdf
  14. Samtheman Dont know whether the logistics would be feasible but you could borrow my canal boat as a temporary home.
  15. Jon Have you heard any reason why West Moor drain is so low Environment Agency - River levels station data
  16. Ok stick with the facts. Here is the drainage plan the EA are working with until 2015 when its up for review. http://www.somersetdrainageboards.gov.uk/approved_plans_WestMoor.pdf If you look at page 23 the new water management policy for the levels are outlined. So basically the low water table in winter for farming has been abandoned to be replaced by a high water table for the birds. Hence the flooding on the levels by the end of December prior to any heavy rains.
  17. eggsarascal Please take time to go on " the farming forum" site and read the various threads on the Somerset levels. From the detailed posts you will come to realise that the flooding had already started prior to the new year with only average rainfall. Dig a little deeper and it becomes well documented a change in EA policy since 2007 to keep the water levels artificially high in the winter for environmental reasons therefore reducing the winter flood capacity of the levels which has been compounded by the lack of dredging and maintenance of the sluices.
  18. If the government where any use they would realise the army has lorries for such a task and could be seen to be doing something useful.
  19. Looks like softwood, terrible for burning spits all over the place, if you twist my arm would take it off your hands but should really charge to get rid of it. Oak
  20. Would it not be far better to say how much your prepared to pay and then people can make the decision to supply or not.
  21. He refused to pay the fine as it was more than his fee so the only option I had was to refuse to pay his fee. He took us to court and judge totally ignored his illegal act and incompetence and found in his favour. Only option left to use was to dissolve the company.
  22. His Professional body was only concerned with defending its member even though he had also illegally filed annual accounts without the Directors seeing them. We still have not received the accounts.
  23. Given up with chartered accountants have used two and both have failed to submit accounts by the due date resulting in penalties from HMRC.
  24. I suggest you buy a more reliable moisture meter. For a meter reading of 4% you would expect it to be torrefied wood not kiln dried.
