  1. Good luck with Triodos we have been with them over 3 years now and every time we have a green project they find some excuse not to lend.
  2. Recently called to a domestic job to collect 2 trees by the time it was processed was 4 IBC containers so worth £400 but then take off 4 hr processing 4 hr collection and 2 hr delivery your really not left with a lot for fuel, machinery etc etc. But compared to £25-£40 roadside its a better deal.
  3. What an offer Onefootforestry. If it was closer to me I would certainly take you up on the offer as I have the kit which would make it viable. I presume the 1 tonne in your yard needs to be timber not woodchip.
  4. Certainly at the stage where if you fell it I will cart it away for nothing. Have offered the service for the last couple of years and it does work well.
  5. Just realised this sounds like we only did big trees but we did everything from table top trees in 1 ltr pots to normal 4-8ft trees in 10-15 ltr pots upto the big trees in 90 ltr pots.
  6. Largest pots where 90 ltrs with tree size of 15 -20 ft. Used to bury pot in IBC container for use at schools and churches. Needed forklift on tractor to move IBC around but at least it did not blow over in the wind. Beyond 90 ltrs planted out to form timber plantation.
  7. Just noticed spelling on thread starter if a mod wants to change it it should be Latil but I think most people would know that. Anyway heres the link latil | eBay
  8. Okay so did anybody on here end up with one of the two Lantil tractors recently sold on the bay. I found it very difficult to keep my hand in my pocket but I am saving my pennies for another Holder tractor. I kept quiet about them so people could get a bargain and at under £3500 I think there really good value for money for such vintage machines.
  9. Mainly root pruning and plant pot size restriction only going up 5 ltrs pot size every time repotted. Top pruning very minimal as root pruning produces a very compact tree. Never had any need for retardants.
  10. We use our polytunnels as solar kilns and it works very well. I would be wary of using a glasshouse as any breakage of glass is impossible to get out of the logs as a member on here found to his cost with storm damage.
  11. We used to rent 2500 live trees a year mainly Norway Spruce but also Nordman, Frasier, Korean,Noble, Konica and a couple of silver leaf firs. We used a form of Bonsai to keep the trees small and compact.
  12. Just wondered it there would be any advantage to register as a vintage truck rather than tractor for high speed road work.
  13. Anyone know the age of vintage tractors to get the tax exemptions and what other benefits you might get.
  14. Might become more important with domestic RHI coming in if ever DECC get around to specify what you need to be an "approved supplier".
  15. I only sell hardwood as any softwood we use on our own fires.
  16. Trailer is a Kesla 9T fitted with a 202T crane which I pull with a MB Trac 1000. Had it about 3 years now and the only damage done is the weld on a 8 way hydraulic lever broke off. Have a word with Jim at Caledonian Forestry he normally has some good deals on new and nearly new Kesla kit. If I new I was doing so much road work I would have opted for the brake and lighting kit but at the time I bought it I assumed I would forward to roadside then attach the 202T to the 3 point link and use my air braked 4 wheel drag trailer to pick the timber up from roadside and cart the timber home. Unfortunately the woodland fairies now mean that timber is cut and carted without stock piling even though its not as efficient.
  17. Another vote for Kesla I have 9 tonne with telescopic crane for extra reach and the steering drawbar is well worth it in tight woods.
  18. My local dealer tried to sell me a new saw at a discounted price so I had a word with a nice Mr Jones who saved me so much on the saw it paid for the repair of my existing saw.
  19. Whereabouts are you at that price I can afford to stockpile and sell at £100 per cube keeping my stock for next year.
  20. Hodge Sorry pal not getting at you. If I still had my 7.5 tonne truck on the road then I would have done it and made a loss by not realizing how much the real cost of keeping the truck on the road was. Now by restricting to tractor delivery radius its more profitable.
  21. Only grants around us available at the moment is for companies less than 3 years old with additional employment strings attached and maximum 25 percent grant refunded after you have paid for the equipment.
  22. Anybody fancy joining Hodge on the sponsored walk from Edgworth to Preston should not take long as it "ain't to far away". If you where a bit nearer I would quote you prices but transport and time taken would kill it for me.
  23. When we rented out live trees a tree that size would be delivered in an IBC container and fork lifted into position. Normally did them for schools and churches.
  24. No mention of how it is powered. 3 phase motor?? Hydraulic ??
