  1. Ben If you wanted you could borrow my mini round baler like the one above. Well in fact you could go the whole hog and borrow all our kit as we set up to harvest hay between rows of temporary trees. We use an alpine tractor with single drum mower, followed by a Bamford wuffler to turn and shake the seeds out and then bale with the mountainpress round baler. We then wrap the bales to sell as a premium bale for horse people with horses which suffer from colic or resperitory illness as the wuffler takes out the dust.
  2. Has anybody bought anything through German eBay and if so is it any different to uk eBay. Also does anybody have German transport links or suggestions on transporting equipment from Germany.
  3. Any recommendations as to where to find spare parts for a holder tractor. Just purchased a holder a15 and it appears that pto is jumping out of gear. Not investigated the reason why as yet so any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Just trying to attach the fergie pulley to the rack saw. Anybody have an idea of the minimum length of belt required to operate the drive and idler pulley as I want to mount the fergie pulley at a set point then use a pto shaft to allow easy attachment to the tractor. Also anyone have a source for 6 inch flat belting.
  5. If you do Xmas trees make sure you understand the hmrc rules as there not generally classed as commercial woodland but market gardening with added IHT consequences.
  6. I would be very wary with the land as it sounds like it is in limbo at the moment. Ie is not classed as agriculture or forestry at the moment due to last use being horses. Also could you get more land as permitted development rules are easier over 5 hectares.
  7. So how does that work. I only sell hardwood as every man and his dog is selling softwood.
  8. You need to stand your ground with VOSA. They tried the same argument with me on delivering plants to Chelford market. Fortunately when they checked back to the VOSA test station the agricultural exemption was logged and I already gave them proof of my agricultural holding CPH number. Most annoying part was the two hours wasted arguing my point by which time I missed the auction sales I went for so returned home empty.
  9. If you could deliver hardwood logs in bulk guaranteed less than 20 percent moisture delivered to Bolton for £50 per cubic mtr including vat then I would also be in the market for 1000 cubic metres and all my processing equipment would be up for sale.
  10. How much are you prepared to pay as I charged £100 per m3 last year and sold out and was going to put my price upto £110 this year.
  11. You could revert to the old fashioned way of cuttings round the edge of clay pots. I still keep clay pots just for that purpose. Commercially it was the only way we could guarantee the quantity of good quality cuttings.
  12. Best of luck getting your RHI approved supplier status with that sort of logic your bound to be approved.
  13. Woody3 If the only way you can make your point is to quote out of context than why bother. See original quotes 8,9,and 10 The facts still remain a large proportion of cheap kindling is made from illegal pallets. You queried my general reference to pallets and I gave a full definition of what is and is not allowed. Quite frankly I am not bothered what you use for your kindling just be aware that it is very easy to test for chemicals in wood products and prosecutions have been successfully made in the past. Going forward your kindling would not be allowed to be used on RHI scheme stoves as you cannot prove traceability of your pallets.
  14. Woody3 Which part of the above can you not read. It's quite simple kindling made from chemical treated timber according to EA cannot legally be burnt on domestic stoves and must be burnt under the rules of the waste incineration directive. Heat treated pallets are not chemically treated and are therefore allowed to be be used on domestic stoves. Simples So where have I said burning all pallets is illegal.
  15. No I am actually very laid back and as others appreciate will always try and help out if I possibly can. What really does annoy me is when you give people sound advice on current legislation because you have to comply with it on a daily basis and they cannot accept that advice because there to idle to do there own research expecting it to be soon fed to them.
  16. Whilst working around the processor I light the chimnea and burn the bark and crud which goes through the splitter bars. Originally got the idea whilst sat outside a Dutch pub next to a canal full of Mosquitos.
  17. Have a problem with this unless rules for farming are different as hauling bales from field to farm was classified as materials and did not require CPC but from farm to customer did require CPC. Same with timber on the farm
  18. Ass kicked on what...????. Never left a thread without responding but some on GB forum are obsessed with numbers even when there wrong. Like others I now very rarely go on GB forum.
  19. I am not here to quote you facts and figures that's easily done on google yahoo bing etc by your own research. I am not paid to be a research assistant and if i was you would not be able to afford me. Data is easy to come by ie 30 percent of uk softwood production goes into pallets and packaging with a similar amount imported Source :- Forestry Commission.
  20. So if you pick up your employees and take them to site you need CPC. Sounds like employees will be finding there own way to site.
  21. Quite frankly I think you would be mad to invest in a pallet chipper at this time. My logic for this statement is based on the new rules coming in in 2014 with regards to RHI payments on domestic boilers only being available from certified approved wood suppliers having wood from certified sustainable forests. As pallets are not traceable then any chip produced will only be able to be used on non RHI woodchip boilers. At present the legislation does not allow pallet woodchip to be used on boilers with capacity in excess of 400kw or multiple boilers on the same site which would exceed the 400kw limit. The final nail in the pallet coffin is the restriction of only being able to store 10 tonnes on site at any one time. Well with my chipper that's less than 1 hours work. At the end of the day you need to ask yourself would I install a non RHI boiler if the government are going to bribe me into installing a RHI boiler.
  22. All pallets have to treated to comply with eu standards. The only timber from pallets allowed to be burnt in domestic stoves by the EA are heat treated pallets which make up a very small percentage of new pallets and certainly have not as yet entered into the mainstream recycled pallet market.
  23. You will always get cheap illegal kindling made from pallets as trading standards/EA only seem to prosecute the big boys.
  24. Just because your Hetas accredited does not make you an approved supplier for RHI purposes according to DECC or have they eased the rules. To comply with RHI it's all to do with sourcing of timber.
  25. So can anyone advise what you need to be an approved supplier as the last time I checked with DECC they could not even advise how you could become approved as they had not appointed anybody to run the scheme.
