  1. What if you made the bundles 1 foot longer. Less strapping for the same weight.
  2. Will try the fergie pulley with 540 speed of the mf 550. If its to slow or not enough Hp I have the option of using my mb Trac which is 100 Hp and pto of 1000 rpm.
  3. Tractor is a mf 550 which is really a newer version of mf35.
  4. Graham w Looking at your rack how do you operate it with the guards in situ. Do you have a roller or something pushing the timber against width gauge.
  5. Sounds like I need to test it with a fergi pulley attached to my tractor. Tractor is 47hp when new so probably 35 Hp now. I will look into the fire hose for a belt. Video which agrimog put up of traction engines running rack saws with a crossed belt. Is this just because of the length to the traction engine as I am more used to running a circular saw without the belt being crossed.
  6. You will find most commercial growers now use root trainers rather than pots for trees. If you still want pots then lbs horticulture in Colne do a full range. Depending on what size you want I could probably do you a quantity of second hand pots.
  7. The rack saw is a flat belt with drive and idler pulleys all working from a control lever next to the rack handle. I had thought of a simple pto conversion however I am now thinking of retaining the flat belt system. Options seem to be. Fergi pulley, electric motor, lister stationary engine. Blade is 42 inch diameter and rack designed to cut 15 inch max. What sort of Hp should I be looking at to power this saw.
  8. Yes just collected it today with a big thanks to agrimog for giving me a lift. Surprised at how good a condition it was in which led to an easy dismantle. Will post some pics when I download to computer
  9. Dunsley Yorkshire stove with back boiler is the bees knees. The boiler chamber is separate to the stove so the stove always runs at high efficiency. Air is thermostatic control dependent on central heating demand so you just stoke up and leave it. You can also get an external air kit for it so that you don't cause a draft in your room. Only downside is there not cheap but I reckon you recover the cost in fuel savings in less than a year.
  10. Agrimog Thanks for the offer pm sent
  11. Sorry not cockermouth but Cumnock.
  12. Have a google search for jean pain. He was the guru of wood chip base heating using compost and also producing gas to power his 2cv vehicle. For more modern applications go to the permies site and you will find quite a few examples.
  13. Thanks wise wood Have found details and it is a Stevens & son rack from Carlisle. Looking to dismantle on Saturday is there any arbtalk members close to cockermouth who would be willing to help in dismantling and saving this bit of old iron.
  14. Was recently listed on eBay but failed to sell at auction but I now cannot find the pictures. I don't know how to search eBay for items already finished.
  15. I have been told it was built in the 1960's and is approx 7 Metres long. Was wondering whether a double axle caravan chassis would be strong enough to transport it.
  16. Anybody have a rough estimate how much a 7 metre wooden rack saw would weigh. I will try and put some photo's up
  17. Anybody know if a fergi belt pulley will fit a mf 550 tractor.
  18. If you kept the bundles the size of mini round bales then I have a mini round bale wrapper that could wrap them in baler net. http://www.rekord.com/f%20&%20s%20machinery%20pages/wrappers/caeb_mini_wrapper_.htm
  19. woody I think that vid was the original prototype. The later model has a bagging facility for bagging the kindling which is what I was interested in. Still seems slow but cannot justify the cost of a kindlet and if it works was thinking of getting them to fab a kindlet blade for my palax processor.
  20. Quick vid of it working [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDapQeJcYFo]www.jk-fabrications.com - YouTube[/ame]
  21. Anybody bought one of these yet and have actual experience of using.
  22. Looks like they have cut the lower branches but chickened out when the ladder ran out.
  23. You will find it hard to beat the quality of a heizohack chipper for biomass fuel. One thing you will need to decide is what chip spec you want to work to. I have both G50 and G30 screens and normally use the G30. Be warned screens are not cheap.
  24. I lost my brother in law in a motor cycle accident just over a year ago. My sister has still not come to terms with it and needs all the moral support from family and friends just to keep going. The accident court case is still ongoing and until that is resolved I cannot see my sister achieving any sense of closure. Why the ramble well in your circumstances your sister in law will require your moral support to survive that is totally different to financial support which is a function of the accident and will be a claim against the other party involved in the accident if the other party was at fault. From your point of view you have lost an active partner and as such you will need to dissolve the partnership make a clean break and start over again. Any other course of action will inevitably lead to family friction in the long term. You will need professional help with the dissolution as your sister in law being an accountant will have an unfair advantage over you in respect of understanding of the law and may use it to her advantage.
