  1. Reading between the lines you can only supply woodchip from FSC approved forests to RHI boilers. Any other sort of chip and you lose your RHI. Might be a loophole for "waste" and another for self supply but it all seems like a rip off to me.
  2. Anybody heard of the new rules coming in from 1st April 2014 that only woodchip from suppliers off the "Approved Suppliers List" will be eligible for RHI payments. Some details here Approved suppliers for RHI installations eNews Current ConFor Looks like another good con to extract annual fees just so that you can supply your customer with woodchip. I give up with this country its just going to the dogs
  3. In my opinion if the tree dies he deserves to have the tree felled onto his house with no insurance cover.
  4. Advice needed. Am I just being picky or would the logistics of maintaining so many small packets be self defeating. http://slice3.reapit.com/ckdrpsdets/EDI120114.PDF The intention would be to put in a small CHP plant just North of Keith which would require approx 20 tonnes timber per day.
  5. Still keeping base in Lancs but daughter looking to move to Scotland to run woodland estate if it all stacks up which it is not doing at the moment. I think the old Sawmill at Rosebery is now multiple craft units so is not on the market but thanks for the thought.
  6. Anybody around Keith (Scotland) aware of a sawmill for sale or premises suitable for sawmill. Looking at an estate but logistics dont stack up at the moment
  7. If it was me I would tell them where they can stick there child credit.
  8. If you need to ask the price of a WF then you cant afford it
  9. Actually cannot decide now as WF also do a tractor that looks very handy and could be even more versatile. http://www.werner-trier.com/uploads/tx_downloads/WARIO_Flyer_DE.pdf
  10. I suppose I could make do with one of these if somebody would like to treat me. WF tracWerner Forst- und Industrietechnik I think the refrigerator in the cab for drinks might just be a bit OTT
  11. Unfortunately the downside of google maps is that any equipment left out in the open can be located by anybody with a computer and magnifying glass.
  12. What Denmark does have is forward planning. Any country which can wean itself off king coal by 2030 has to be admired. Looks like smart meters will also roll out in Denmark before UK Film: Smart Grid Denmark
  13. Just goes to show the benefits achieved by district heating and combined heat and power. Pity the UK never followed a similar route allowing the big six to warm the atmosphere rather than our homes in effect paying twice for our electric and heating.
  14. You might end up with a lot of unhappy allotment holders as fresh chip is more likely to kill the plant then act as a mulch. For our landshare allotment holders I supply them composted woodchip over a year old for mulching.
  15. Put anything in my Esse stove over 20% and your asking for trouble with tar build up.
  16. Anything of the juniper family seems to grow in the smallest of cracks
  17. If anybody is having a particular problem I have a pair of harrows you could borrow.
  18. I would be very suspicious of a price per tonne delivered to plant. I dont know of any plants which work on that basis normally its a low assumed moisture content which is compared to an actual sample of the load and the price adjusted accordingly. Basically the power station does not pay for water.
  19. Steve Was notified yesterday by email that I had a PM on arbtalk but when I looked in message box no new messages. I dont even know who the message was from as I deleted the email all I can remember is he was from down south and wanted to know about my solar kiln.
  20. Plastic does last longer if you dont poke the fork lift mast through it. I budget to replace every 5 years anything longer on my exposed site is a bonus.
  21. details of the german chp plant Wood cogeneration plant and a typical water turbine http://ecowavesystems.co.uk/turbines.html although for a pub a more traditional waterwheel might be more public friendly
  22. You could have a reliable German 45 kwe CHP system but it is not cheap at 176,000 euro's. The main downside with the system is the need for 15% MC woodchip. Not a problem for me but finding 15% MC on Dartmoor could be a problem as the UK is not geared up for quality low MC woodchip unlike Germany.
  23. That's why I asked about a stream. Probably easiest renewable to get through the national park especially if you can make it a feature or attraction on the pub to draw tourists in.
  24. It would be nice to be able to get on the British Farming Forum but they dont want real farmers having refused my application several times.
