  1. Just lit ours today after standing for 4hrs in the cold drizzle so the wife could catch a 4second glimpse of the Queen visiting richmond. Pub looked very inviting but wasn't allowed.
  2. Typical the client has the the fence done then decides the stump needs doing, managed to get 95% without taking the whole fence down but did leave a few scorch marks on the rails.
  3. Amazing the difference in appearance a new set of rims and tires can make to a landy
  4. The last few days taking out some very tall ash on a steep banking, a dumper on site made shifting the timber to where the client wanted it easier.
  5. Good option for some but no good for me as often need narrow set up for highways clearance work and these things seem to have monster footprints.
  6. Yeh I know, my 130 with 14.5m on her is 3.1ton as she stands so being careful how I modify it. Advantage for me is the landy can tow the chipper to site and we have plenty of good places fairly local to hire bigger if needed. 15m outreach is wow!! Can't ask for more than that for such a compact carrier, any pictures?
  7. Be careful putting extra pads and boards on the bed or the Cabstar as most are flirting just under the 3.5ton mark by the time you get your bate box in them. Good stable machine and the out reach is fantastic but total cak off tarmac!
  8. Take it the climbing kit has to go on the passenger seat roseyweb ;-)
  9. It's lovely rope Paul, just started using it in zz. Some good pictures in that lot.
  10. I'll be stopping with a couple of the lads who work for me, bit of a works do. Stopped last year and was a rite hoot, real good atmosphere and ment could actually wander round the show for 2 days and chat rather than rush just to look at what I needed to.
  11. The picture of you peeping out like a giant squirrel is brilliant steve. True monster of a tree and thanks for sharing the experience with us.
  12. Had a bloke hand me cash for a job and insist I count it, £50 too much which I handed back, he handed it back with a well done, you've passed the test. Has loades of work off him since. Well done dean.
  13. A house that provides a good brew gets a much better tidy up, those that feed as well get spotless! Found this also works when we have tradesmen round doing stuff at home. Tried knocking on a dry house door once with a empty bottle and hinted with it and got pointed towards the neighbours outdoor tap..... The cheek!! Left those flower beds full of sawdust for sure!
  14. She looks a lot bigger than a 1650. Nice!
  15. TV is now programmed to switch on for that just incase I forget, thanks for the heads up ;-)
  16. Nice mog that! 2100? Some big lumps of timber, always so much easier with some hydraulic power to lift them off than rig then cut up to handball onto a trailer.
  17. That's not some cracking work, really like the grim reaper caricature :-)
  18. Think I'm going to have to watch this program more often for its educational properties and not because I quite fancy ellie Harrison ;-)
  19. Well said, sometimes removal at the beginning of a problem is prudent as for a client struggling with the cost it can be more cost affective as the trees haven't reached the stage where they are unsecured to work on conventualy and the timber is possibly still sound anough to have some resale value. Well done johny for paying for the replanting. Imagine if we all once a year gave a day and a few quid and did some local community planting how many more trees would get going.
  20. Lad who works for me has them. Hurts too much for me to use them now.
  21. I use both, c's in winter and A's from about now on, really wish more manufacturer made B's as the extra padding on the back of the calf helps when spiking as I've actually cut the muscles there clean in half (not a chainsaw) I have gecko's which are the best I've found but still like the extra padding so sod all to do with the extra safety. In my opinion being overheated and not fully concentrating is far more dangerous than being cooler and more with it to get a better work position. Has anyone actually ever tried cutting a old pair of trousers to see the effects and how a saw drags them about?
  22. How the hell did my staff get to you so fast, didn't think they got finished till 5 ;-)
  23. Will do but if I'm successful you owe me a beer ;-)
  24. Cool video, how many driver's hit your cones gawping at the bloke up the tree or pooed themselves as a bit swung down on a rope.
  25. Not saying you shouldn't get another rope to try as even if you don't like it as much you can never have too many ropes for those wet British summers.;-) it's illegal to climb with sopping wet gear from the day before, or at least that's what I tell the wife when she spots something new in the kit room ;-)
