  1. Who uses poles and a hook to get ropes in?

    Rope Bags!

Anyone know where I can go get a couple of bucket style rope bags off the shelf without having to order them?! Somewhere close to Norwich! I need them by the weekend but don't get paid til Thursday!
  3. If saws need substantial maintenance I'll do them at home - otherwise I tend to "top up" sharpen all the time! Just like a butcher or a chef with their knives.
  4. That'd be great! Thank you so much! My harness is about 4 years old but I've skidded a silky saw over one of the D-Rings. It would be a massive pain to condemn such a young harness for such a small issue especially as I'm broke from buying kit! @Tommy_b might be interested in the rest of your harness?!
  5. Sure mate! I'll let you know if I get hold of one and send the remainder on to you!
  6. Hi All, has anyone got a treeMOTION harness they don't want? I need one of the D rings which connect the bridge, legs and waistband. Preferably in the Norfolk area - I'll come and get it! Many thanks from Sam!
  7. Nice one cheers Peatff !
  8. Hey All! Can Anyone tell me the Make and Model Number of the Carburettor inside a Stihl MS 461? Manufactured 08/2015. I'm going to renew the gaskets and diaphragms. Many thanks, Sambo!

Seems to be the spark arrestor which hinders the performance on many machines! You've only got to look at a couple of vids from the states about blocked spark arrestors bogging the machine down!
  10. Dunno mate - seen a couple of situations where stuff like the ring cutter could have improved the outcome!
  11. Might grab a pair for the kit bag! If they save a life, limb or even just a finger one day they've got to be worth it! I'll happy splash out on making our work environment safer!
  12. Sounds reassuring coz I use type C trousers as a rule! So it would be cutting through ballistics wherever! How's your leg now?
  13. Not not long ago I went on a workplace first aid course and today I bought a first aid kit for my car which contained a fairly hefty looking pair of emergency shears. It got me wondering if these shears would actually be suitable for cutting away chainsaw trousers in an emergency. As in getting through them swiftly with out a struggle or damage to the shears. Anyone had the misfortune of having to do this? Or tried it for training/research purposes?
  14. Sadly true by the looks of things - probably someone in an office has done a cost analysis on changing all the saws in all the dealerships and decided its cheaper to wait till they break!
  15. Tell you what the MS261cm is so light and powerful now. I'm quick to get onto that nowadays if I have something big to cut in a tree - rather than strain the guts out of a topper just for the sake of it.
  16. Have you replaced it? Or put the same one back in? I only say this because when mine went I lost the loop and had to buy new one. The replacement part has much longer ends on it! Had no probs since the new part!

I'd leave it mate! In the UK they're fairly open already - no spark arrestor screen or other such bits to restrict it as far as I know! Many 2 stroke engines rely on the resonance of the exiting gases to draw exhaust out and help a fresh charge of fuel/air in (Think tuned pipes on hotsaws or trials bikes etc for an extreme example) The exhaust may well have been very carefully designed to facilitate this so I'd be dubious about altering it! A couple of ways to make your saw really run like fury is to: A. Run it on a top quality fuel like aspen2 or motomix. The difference is phenomenal. The more pricey fuel pays for itself in the end with less downtime and higher productivity! B. Use a synthetic chain oil. Modern saws need the modern runny chain oils like synthplus to lubricate the chain at the speeds they run at! Also these new oils penetrate into the chain joints and help to flush out dirt. Because they run so freely you can keep your oil adjustment down to the E mark which means though pricey, these oils are, again, economic in the long run!
  18. Mine went the same way! I will say though that if you get a replacement from a stihl dealership the new loop has much longer ends on it to stop it coming out - Indicating that stihl have acknowledged this problem!

    ms200t help

It's quite hard to determine whether those tank vents are clear or blocked sometimes. It only needs to be allowing less in than is being sucked out by the carb diaphragm! For their tiny price I'd just bin it any way along with the fuel filter and get new ones! Might also be one of the diaphragm in the carb - again pennies!
  20. I have a MS 261 C-M and a MS 461. if I were to buy another saw. The 461 has bags of power and the 261 has lightning acceleration and great torque in the cut due to the M-Tronic carb. If I were to get another I would be looking for a blend of the two! would be the 661 C-M for me now!
  21. I was issued a harkie smock at Norse and didn't think much of it until I had to climb in torrential rain. Bloody lovely! I like the way the collar comes right up under your helmet - capital idea!
  22. Just by way of a light-hearted enquiry: I just bought a new blower and, as usual, it came with a round ended spout and a flat ended one. so my question to you guys is which one do you use? what do yo find best for which task? and, most importantly I guess, which is best for sawdust off lawns!! Oh and does anyone bother with the vacuum attachment? Cheers! Sambo!
  23. Alright guys?! Is at all possible to get hold of a replacement joining ring for the treemotion harness. The one which connects the waist belt to the leg loops and either end of the bridge. Is there a supplier of spares for the tree motion?! Cheers!

    Best 70cc saw

I bought a 461 last summer and it's been amazing! Would be interesting when they put an m-tronic system in it.
